28 Weeks Later was also brilliant. I've never been so royally smacked in the face by an opening 15 minutes, it was excellent. The writing and direction was phenomenal, and I think I like it better than the first. It has alot of unique directional qualities, as well as interesting phases that display much skill and dedication to exploring the feelings and story. Pretty awesome.

Lives of Others was still the best movie I've seen this year, though.

I must agree with Derek here, I think I liked the sequel more as well, plot holes...whatever... it still was thought provoking and entertaining as hell, and yes those first 15 minutes were simply fucking manic..
 
I shall see 28 weeks later... tomorrow.

Also, my friend, whom somehow got a sunshine DVD screener (It may actually be an R5, unsure, still no clue where he got it from, isn't on any of the major movie torrent/ftp places) is sending it to me currently. He sent me a sample earlier and the quality was good and the effects in the 2 minute clip were outstanding. So I cannot wait...

28 Weeks Later: I intended to see it last weekend, but alas I missed the chance, hopefully I will get in the opportunity in the not too distant future. I had a love/hate relationship with the first movie. On on hand it was brilliantly done, and was chock-full of tributes to classic zombie films of the past. On the other hand it was not a zombie movie. pfffffft. Then I matured and accepted it on it's own terms. Also, nuts to that, I'll call it a zombie movie if I want. The atmosphere was stunning, dig.

Sunshine: Why have I never heard of this movie before?! I assume I have seen the title dropped into conversations before , i.e. "sunshine? / yeah bra, top notch" So instead of a coming-to-terms-heartfelt-teen-drama "SUNSHINE" I expected from a title as such, we have the pure form of the word in the all-powerful-light-bringer-sci-fi-epic "SUNSHINE". SOLD. and DOUBLE-SOLD.

I remember once you told me about CASTLE FREAK? did you ever see this movie? I still have not and am SUDDENLY JONESING FOR A VIEWING OF SAID FILM, along with another supposed classic "FROM BEYOND"

hm. can't remember this; may have been around the time i stopped watching movies... but i DID go through a lovecraft movie phase! and i recognize the cover for castle freak..

as for From Beyond.. I can't say for certain that i watched it. lovecraft movies get jumbled in my head, along with a lot of the other zombie/horror stuff i watched at the time. but judging from some reviews, i think i saw it!! the whole pineal gland thing seems familiar! it may also be the manilla road song... NOT FROM THE GRAVE! BUT FROM THE BEYOND!

if it IS what i'm thinking, it was fairly entertaining... not quite reanimator, but maybe in that league..
 
yes perhaps, it was a long while ago, our younger days of DC++ movie hubs and other shenanigans. I am acquiring xvids, I MAY REPORT BACK


I just bought a Lovecraft story collection which is what renewed my interest!

I agree it's not a zombie movie cuz they're still alive. It's about a virus outbreak not the living dead. :lol:

They have rage issues, not wanting to eat people issues.

really? i can't remember it too well, but didn't that guy wake up from a coma and start wandering the streets? that seemed wrong. zombies are just a metaphor for claustrophobia and i didn't feel too suffocated during that movie.
 
28 days later was a good movie, i liked how Brian Eno's music was on the movie, very sad a beautiful music.

also the zombies were awesome cause they wern't all sluggish and shit, they were fast.

looking forward to seeing 28 weeks later.
