So, ddrum pro triggers still the "go to" triggers for you guys?

Do you guys hook your triggers into pre's and gain them up to catch all the soft hits? I recorded a metal band last week and had a lot of problems with missed hits on the fast double kick parts where he played them softer. Right now I just have them hooked into my line inputs on the back of my MOTU which worked fine for rock, but doesn't seem to be cutting it for metal. Any tips you guys can throw at me to catch all the kick hits would be appreciated. It happens sometimes on toms too.

828mkii. I just bought a Digimax FS, that should be here next week, so we are going to retrack and I think that will fix all my issues with missed hits, if I am able to gain up the signal.
