is it worth it? will scary people from my high school past track me down (not that it's difficult to google me)? will it occupy way too much of my time?

tell me the pros and cons here people.

just do it. you can read the profile of who sends you a message without opening the message. so if you dont like the person, just never open the message.

if you don't update your profile frequently, i've found, it drops lower on the search list and the creepy emails from people you don't know tend to dry up. so set it the first time, then don't ever update again.

well i mean if you dont add PEOPLE, no one is going to ever look at your site / learn about itsatrap or whatever. no one goes through an entire friendslist of a band, because it's too long. but they DO look at their friends' friendslists.
so i mean god forbid it get your ass some business.

SAYIN'

p.s. once a person is on your friendslist you can post bulletins and each person gets it about record releases, tour dates, etc. IT WORKS.

ah, that kinda/sorta makes sense then I guess. I do have my own mailing list, but I suppose anything helps.

I hate the automatic streaming audio thing, but that's mostly because I get random fucks pirating my bandwidth every so often.

I don't like myspace, mainly because it creeps me out. I joined because Nils did and I was curious what the deal with it was, but I'm kind of regretting that I did. It's not so much that I get contacted by people I don't want to hear from as it is that I get random messages and friend requests from people I don't know who are like "hey, we should hang out or talk on IM sometime" and all I can think is "I hardly hang out or talk on IM with people I actually know, let alone strangers from the internet who decided I'd be cool to talk to based on a picture a few lines of description." Plus too many people on there seem hopelessly trendy and lame, which bothers me. I probably just don't have the right mindset to enjoy something like that. My enjoyment of internet communities comes more from things like this board, where it's a relatively small number of people whose identities I can fairly easily understand and keep track of.

If I were you, avi, I'd go for registering as itsatrap for the promotion values, rather than as an individual, because that's when it gets a little annoying in my book.
