Lost In Necropolis
This place is pretty cool aside from the fact that they haven't let us in to the seating section due to some equipment malfunction that they're fixing. Said it'll be 10-15, about 20 minutes ago.

In the mean time, I found out the computers in here have remote connection enabled, so I've been managing my porn torrents while waiting.

FUCK YEAH FOR HIGH-TECH MOVIE THEATERS! FUCK NO FOR DELAYS ON THE BATMAN!

A report will come after the flick if I can hop on one of these bastards before the 3:15 showing. If not, then after I wake up before the 7pm showing.

That's about 11 hours and 30 minutes too long!

It's one of the most accomplished movies ever made. I've ran out of hyperbole already.

Is it really that good Derek?

Yep. I thought Batman Begins was a wonderful genesis story, a brilliant cast incredibly directed with a first rate script and some genuine depth, which, considering its status as mega-blockbuster, is remarkable.

This one is even better. It's darker, it's has more texture, the cast is into a groove and Nolan, who perfects his techniques movie on movie, gives a masterclass in how to direct an action movie while making the motives, feelings and persona's of the characters feel as vital as the fights.

It's the best movie I've seen since Children of Men, and I think it just edges Cuaron's masterpiece.

Holy fucking shit was this film amazing. Every actor had an almost perfection in their delivery... And Heath Ledger, definite Best Supporting Actor oscar in this. He was amazing.

Less than 8 hours till I see it for time 3!

We read an essay in this big anthology that argued that violence in films tends to be either "senseless" or "meaningful". They don't mean violence that is unjustified or justified. In short, "Senseless" violence is unemotional and impersonal high body counts, while "meaninful" violence retains some kind of moral or emotional connection to the viewer. The assignment is to write about a movie that serves as an example of one of the categories. I'm doing Children of Men as an example of the latter. Especially the last 15 or so minutes of the film (holy shit).

Hmmmm. Ok. Arguably violence has intrinsic meaning, dismissing that for the purely cerebral meaning is perhaps missing the point. It's very much a theoretical argument that only holds water when applied to films.

I personally think that the objective is what really defines, meaningful and unmeaningful Violence. Film or otherwise...
Arnold for example, gets accredited for having pointless over the top action movies. 99% of his movies have him saving someone. Like Commando, he goes in to save his daughter and "get" the badguy. Its pretty base, but who would stop a man from trying to save his daughter? So he goes in knowing that violence would ensue. BAM pointless, meaningless? I say no! I mean sure if it were real life and showed up on the Island then they would have probably executed his daughter, but thats a whole nother can o' beans.

Its meaningful on an epic scale!!!!
However if he were to, lets say... Just go in and kill with no real objective then, yeah. I guess it would be meaningless.

*puts on serious internet face*
I think Violence can be very meaningless, but at the same time promote the biggest change.Like the killing of the Jews, using genocide to justify your own means. Is pretty meaningless as a whole. Dropping the bomb on tons of innocent people to save more innocent people. Meaningful, but still heart wrenching. I personally wouldn't want that blood on my hands. It stopped the war, made a huge change. But its still murder. arrgh, thinking about all that shit makes me go WTF to humanity.
