So is Anathema releasing a new album or not?

It was perhaps a year ago or so when I first heard they were working on a double disc supposedly produced by Steven Wilson. What happened to that? Any news? Anything?

Yes the new album is called Horizons to be released later this year. Not entirely sure about this but I think they are also doing an acoustic album of previous songs iirc.

anathema are very pleased to announce that the 'hindsight' album hasbeen finished and the masters have been sent to the record company. as you may be aware, 'hindsight' is a semi acoustic album of classic anathema tracks, and includes one new song.

work on the new anathema album 'horizons' is already well underway. we expect this to be our greatest album by a long, long way.

^Initially that was what I heard as well, but more recent news stated he was mixing it and didn't mention producing. I'd definitely be a plus if he produces as well.

Personally I prefer that. SW is great and all, but I want it to sound in a different way than it would if he produced it.

That's definitely sad news. I'm a big fan of their newer stuff especially the last two cds, but those demo tracks didn't do much for me so I was hoping Steve could help spice them up a bit. I guess I'll just have to wait, and see what they did with them.

My name's batmura over there too and I asked him about a month ago. I'd certainly love for SW to produce it and give Anathema the fat, layered sound of Opeth circa BWP, but due to time constraints and stuff the band's doing it themselves. Danny even said SW may not even have the time to mix it but they're going to try their best to make it work out.

Btw, on the production front, I really hope they move away from the AFDTOE/AND sort of Radiohead-ish production and try out something else this time around.

Either way this album is going to amazing. After all of the fuss surrounding its recording/release theres no way the band will release something terrible. I'm Looking forward to it.
