So I've started swinging the other way . . .

I got me an 80 GB Ipod.

I had to give in to the trend because they just have too much going for them (with all the cool accessories and all).

I also go this Invisible Shield stuff to protect it from scratches and what not.

I also stupidly bought the wrong Griffin Itrip. So if somebody wants this:

I'll sell it for $15 (shipping included in the US). It's brand new, but no shrink wrap (since I opened it without realizing it was the wrong one for the new Ipod Video's).

Unless you're going to be on a prolonged vacation or use shuffle exclusively, 80 gigs are entirely unnecessary. I'm still without an mp3 player, though I've become less resistant to the idea and probably will get one eventually...just not with Apple's imprint on it.

80 Gigs is entirely neccessary if you want to take 600 CDs with you in a tractor. Why not have the whole collection on there? Plus, I can put TV shows and videos (porn) on there with that much memory.

I was VERY much against Apple until it was time to update to a new model. For the money, the 80 GB Ipod was the best value. Plus there are just WAAAAAAAAAAYYY more accessories for Ipods. If you're not looking at Ipods, you migh check out the Toshiba Gigabeat.

Since I only really wanted an mp3 player to play mp3s I got a 40gb iriver which I've been pretty pleased with.

iRiver is a pretty damn good brand, my buddy from school has had one for 2 years now and loves it.

I don't have any qualms with 80GB players really, useful for putting tons of music, a handful of movies and it's a portable harddrive to boot. Why not?

I use my iPod at least 3 hours a day (total commute), in all its 40GB glory. I rarely use the video functionality, aside from maybe watching Lost.

Otherwise, I'd still be carrying around a disc walkman and maybe 8 CDs at a time. :loco:

solid state >>>>> spinning compact disc

iPods are okay. The two I've had have broke(One was a first gen, the other a 40gb video), so I just decided to go with a zen. I've only been using it for a few months, so I have yet to see if it stands the test of time.

Though, I will say I like the iPod more.

What the is with people saying things like 'the 80gb iPod is unnecessary blahblahblah'. Putting fucking CHICKEN BONES or ASHES in a CD is some kind of absolute awsomeness, or having a picture stamped on the A-side of your vinyl is needed, or any other thing people praise, but kick ass ultra-huge hardrive MP3 players are oh so dumb. Not only is is useful to have your whole library at times, its just god damn fucking cool. Gadgets rule.

i keep hearing that some of iRiver's better products aren't marketed in North America... is this true?
True. Hell if I know why, though. You have to import the good ones from Korea or Australia.
