I had some problems with Itunes running with my 60 gig Ipod, and the other day, all my songs on my Ipod wouldn't show up and I had to reformat. I'm in the process of putting shit back on it. Ipod's just seem to be a pain in the ass when things go wrong. I played around with a Creative, and if I was mp3 less right now, I'd definitely get a Creative or Iriver. The new version of Winamp has worked fine with my Ipod though, except for the whole reformat thing.

I really enjoy the size that I can carry on my Ipod, especially for my radio show and long trips. Much better than carrying about 10 CDs in my back pack.

apple sucks apple sucks apple sucks ipods are unreliable pieces of crap congratulations you just got sucked into the vortex from hell, my (3rd, after the first 2 broke under warranty) ipod is showing signs of crapping out and i am not too fucking thrilled about it, especially after the crap i went through last time

i wish i could get my money back so i could get an mp3 player that would last more than 5 months.....all i can say is i sure hope you bought the extended warranty because a fucking ham sandwich could outlast one of those piles of shit

I've had my iPod for over a year and the only problems I've had with it is sometimes it won't turn off. I've gotten quite a bit of use out of it as well, and continue to.

Mine lasted for 4-5 years just fine.

it seems to have about a 70-80% working ipod rate, so it's not every ipod, or all ipods, but either way thats a rather FUCKtastic ratio. If the Apple's competition would put out better advertising campaigns I have the feeling the ipod would be dethroned rather swiftly. I can't think of any succesful product with at BEST a 10% SERIOUS failure rate in the first 3 months.

Microsoft has just unleashed the Zune. They plan on putting a TON of money into advertising. I doubt they'll dethrone Ipod. Ipods have just dominated for way too long to be taken down very easily.

Looks nice. I have an iRiver 20gig player which is quite old now, and it's a bit of a brick, but it's always worked well for me. Can't really afford an update though.
