So speaking of music, Nae'blis - Sketches of Reality

Ok, here's a repost of the track "The Curse of Evolution"

And a never before posted track:

"No Purpose In Life"

I actually wrote a review of the album to share with everyone a few weeks ago, but it got wiped out by a power outage and lost forever (very, very frustrating when that kind of stuff happens - total waste of an hour of my time).

Suffice to say, everyone into depressive black metal of any kind (and I know the majority of you around here are) need to check this band out and let yourself begin absorbing it. As JK indicated, it's not an album to listen to under less than ideal conditions.

Whoa... Killer stuff Dark One. Reminds me of Beatrik a bit with the atmosphere. I'm only one track into it, but this is great!

Excellent to hear - thanks for the feedback Brandon. Just wait until the rest of the album, the best parts have yet to come.

Other than RiA and Tranquillian (who were completely on board at first mention:kickass:), EricT also finally discovered it's greatness the other night as well (see his "It's snowing outside" thread from Friday).

This is one of those bands I just had to keep perservering on in the hopes more folks would take the time to listen to 'em. The most RC circle-jerk worthy band I've discovered in recent times.

75% through the album, and I keep going into a state kind of like being engulfed by the music. Some of the organ parts seem a little odd, but I think they'll come together with repeated listens.

Have you heard Beatrik?

Nice - the final track is godly. Wait 'til you hear the climax at the end.

No, but obviously need to check them out pronto.

This is some quality shit! I've spun it 10 times since Monday! Such a bleak atmosphere, and the combination of steel picking and black metal is great.

Agreed, once it hooks you in it's incredibly addictive. You have to be able to get past the first few listens before you begin to absorb it and the true quality starts presenting itself.

Agreed, and perhaps that's why I'm so in tune with it right now. It's a bit of a dark time for me these days and I find the jaw droppingly raw emotion oozing out of the album to be a close friend when I need it. The ultimate climax of despair on "No Purpose in Life" is overwhelmingly powerful.

I can see moments of brilliance but it hasn't clicked together yet. There are elements of Burzum and other times you hear an essence of Empyrium. Both key ingredients for success IMO. But the magic isn't connecting it all together yet. I just really need to stop what I'm doing and focus.

Excellent - that's precisely the kind of reaction I was hoping for from you. Perfect foundation to build on. The most powerful albums to me are indeed the ones to grow on. I'm at the point where I've heard it about 100 times already, so I'm at a vastly different stage of evaluation.

hey what is that hanging off the side of the barn?
