so.... we have a crybaby writing for the site...

and that was the case josh... i think it might have been up for 2 hours...

steph checks the site all day. and yes... she logged in to fix someone elses typo. and yes "if I saw a band member of a band that I loved spelled wrong I would write off the entire site." is retarded

a personal example: the times a webzine has printed a review of MADELIN ON THE WALL, the reviews and zines themselves have invariably been drivelous, whereas Terran Olson's name has been spelled "Olsen" numerous times in fairly eloquent publications.

You know, I have thought about this again, and I actually do think that if you're going to run a critique site, you should be meticulous. I think if the people's names are printed in the liner notes, there is no excuse for them to show up wrong in a review.

Those modicums are the types of things that distinguish professionalists from hobbyists. As a personal analogy, a band shouldn't release an album with digital hits all over the place and expect to be perceived as something more than careless or hasty people.

see, the thing is... we try to be careful, we do. and if any mistakes are made, we fix them as soon as we notice them.

i just felt like this girl, who hardly helps with the site to begin with, was try to tell me and steph that A) we are doing a bad job, and B) how TO DO our job.

i don't ever want to come off like a hobbyest site... and i have strived not to.

and Paul comes through with the wisdom of the ages.

actually, i notice erroneous spellings on the site too that i'd like to fix. i like having the ability to edit my own things, as i've noticed things i've passed on to be posted that (after they're posted) have errors in them, and i like to go and fix them- which now i can. but yeah, editing other people's things always logs it as the last updater. i'd like the ability to update other people's work, but that'd make me an editor, not just a writer- and that's a line that shouldn't necessarily be crossed by me or other writers. like if i updated something that was right in the first place- that'd be the suxorama.

incidentally, should we appoint someone meticulous, specifically to just comb through for spelling errors- names included?

i think people are missing the point (really, i'm thinking of taking this thread down)... i don't mind help, i love help, i WANT help. it's just easier for steph or i to do it because it causes less problems if we edit stuff for people. it's just the way the site is set up right now.

the thing i was pissed about was the girls "touchy" e-mail and her giving me lessons on how to run my site.

i love that everyone helps and helps point out mistakes... i just need to have a little more control over the site so i didn't have to fix stuff on the database side.

i love all the people that help on this board, i don't want any of you to take this thread the wrong way.
