Software for cleaning audio-files?

Does anyone know any programs that I could use to make audiofiles sound cleaner and better? Preferrably free software, of course...

If you are refering to noise reduction, which you probably aren't, lotsa sound editing programs have this feature, such as Cool-Edit or Gold Wave.

As for MP3 quality, dunno..

I WAS actually referring to noise-reduction. I just couldn't come up with a decent word.

Farmakon's second demo is on MiniDisc, and I am just wondering if I could improve the sound quality a little...

Actually, we could provide you with the Sonic Foundry's Noise Reduction DirectX-plugin (along with Sound Forge 5 and some other nifty plugins).

This is all perfectly legal, nothing to see here.

We recorded 4 songs and 1 (or 2) of them is going to be added to our page at http://www.mp3.com/farmakon. They are on cd now, but we still have to decide which song to put online and so on, so I'd say it will still take 1,5 weeks at least...
