Probably one of the best metal releases of 2005?

Well, one listen in, and shit goddamn, I don't know what to make of this. It seems so "hit and miss".

Songs like "Sun I Call", "White Frost Queen", and "Crater of the Valkyries" are just so STUNNING, it makes me want to re-check the remaining lesser tracks.

I mean, you have songs like "Sun I Called" and I don't know what to make of it, just because the vocals are so 'awkward'. Who's doing the 'grim' vocals on this? Sounds almost as bad as Rob Darken. The female backing vox sound so out of tune here, whereas on other tracks they are perfect, so it appears to be done on purpose?

The vocals are shit all over

Well, on those better tracks I mentioned they appear to be ok. But on others, they just fall apart, as if the guy was losing his voice....I can't imagine they allowed that to pass unless they did it on purpose because it's just so obviously bad.

Shame because it detracts from the 3 or 4 excellent songs.

"Sun I Call" is indeed the best and its a great song. Overall the album is nothing special..in times its BOOOOOOOOOOOOORING. Its incredible how much praising it gets anyway. It has ridiculus riffs that any mediocre swedish melodic "wannabe death metal" band can write and its folk/melodic moments are done by so many other bands in the past, 2 times better. Decent album, and thats it. And yes the black vocals are shit.
