Excellent album of British epic pagan doom. Very accessible as well, at least compared to the likes of Candlemass etc. Lots of dual guitar harmonies, several grandiose "heavy metal" moments, and overall a very warm vintage production.

"The Sleeping Tyrant" is one of the best songs to come out of the 90's.

Discuss.

Yeah I will -- hopefully tonight (in a few hours) I'll upload "sleeping tyrant". I think several people here should really appreciate it, and the band doesn't get much mention.

Seriously, I fucking suck at expressing myself, hence my ghey short post above. This album is epic beyond words, has tremendous guitar harmonies and solos, amazing atmosphere, will grab your soul by the balls. It's one of them albums that moves you, but isn't gay...it just totally kicks fucking ass all over the place.

I have mentioned this band hundreds of times...along with JK and IoTS.

I didn't pay attention to this thread until it was stickied lolz

*downloads track*

edit: well hey, that song really rocks

is it me or you have like 10000 absolute favorite albums ev4r?

same goes to everyone else on this forum

with the sheer amount of metal releases ever released and the sheer amount I have heard and own...yesh, pretty much. I could easily rattle off at least 50 must-owns. Then again, I don't really stick to one or two definitive genres either.

this wasn't specifically directed to you... it just happened that it's the 5000th time I saw someone on this forum saying " ZOMG MAH FAVORITE ALBUM EVAR" and I sorta found it funny. But yeah, I guess you can have many "old favorite albums you used to listen a lot some years ago".

haha, think of it as my recommendation entry.

The following people (in particular) should listen to this SOLSTICE sample:

Erik (although he already has it so he should comment)
IoftheStorm (although he already has it too)
Doom
Black Winter Sirloin
Spikes77
Dev
Ellestin
Dark One

and Demilich.

One of the best thing in the album = the vocals. I love the accent, the nwobhm influences the singer has and the special way he pronounces some words. The vocal melodies are inspired beyond belief too.
