Wow that's some harsh words! The melody in the chorus is very catchy indeed and it's a shame you think it's crap. I thought you were a fan of melodic rock bands like the Poodles etc. Maybe they are just too poppy sounding for you which is the whole idea of the band I think otherwise he would have stuck with Midnight Sun which was getting nowhere. By the way Madman, what do you think about the melodies in Night of Passion? This is their biggest hit I believe in their homeland and nearly won their entry for Eurovision contest a few years ago, (it was amongst the final 4 or something).
