Some of your underproduced faves?

cool, I haven't heard some of these...thanks for the recommendations!

+1 on the whiplash's ticket to mayhem; some bad production in there, but great album.

-1 on laaz rocket; the production on that one was great. they had some of the heaviest guitars this side of overkill's.

I put Laaz on there because they have the dreaded scooped mids that I love and use today. Is it me or are boosting mids overdone and adding to the loudness war debacle?

great call on "them." love the album, but man, does it have some weird production!

Dunno. Now bands tune down to H so boosting mids might bring 'em back to planet earth for all I know.

Ratt's self titled album.

Most "True" black metal i.e not dimmu borgir bullshit.

Yeah, we cant have that gosh dang Dimmu Borgir untr00ness!
Its so untr00 that its like, pop and shit, because they are famous and stuff.

Them being famous has nothing to do with it, they just aren't black metal, if you dont notice a difference between what they play and what black metal bands play(like dark throne, emperor, immortal etc) then I feel sorry for you.
They play something more like extreme symphonic metal or some bullshit like that, if shagath didnt call them norwegion black metal any chance he gets then I'm not sure anyone would mistake them for it.
Satantic lyrics doesn't make you a band black metal.
