Something I tried out with my new Pod X3

What do you think? It's the first one I've ever recorded myself. Any tips? I suck at snare... And don't mind the playing, just the sound!

I tried to make it sound as aggressive/big as possible. It's a bit hard when the bass was a guitar with one octave down..

How can I make it more "in your face"?

Yeah I was kinda fucking around with it, it's not ready yet. I'll of course mix it again when everything is set Just thought asking about the tone.

it's kinda hard to tell with the "overcompression"... you should upload a new version with a moderate compression

Yep, the compression is still killing the tone. Try snapping the bypass on your master comp on and off, and you'll notice the nasty pumping effect easily since it's very present in that mix.

It's no big deal but perhaps you should try having a dark guitar on one side and brighter guitar on the other side... but if you like it as it is (the tone reminds me of my Marshall JCM800 amp sim on my Korg AX1500G...), don't change anything.

Actually I'm not that satisfied... I think I'll do the guitars all over again. I want the sound to be more aggressive and in your face. Any suggestions?

Personally I wouldn't recommend putting different tones on the left and right sides. I guess it's a matter of taste, but I've always thought mixes with such arrangement sound unbalanced. I always go with two different tones on 100% and 80% on the same side.

hey, what settings did you use on the PODx3? is it just the x3 or it the x3l...i got the x3l and downloaded a mesa boogie Preset and "Tool" preset, both Podxtl tones running on x3l but sounding amazing.
Reverb and Delay off of the Tool setting, Dual tone both on "Tool" was my favourite.

Also, did you use USB, S/PDIF, XLR or through an amp?

i used USB into my comp running the pedal as an ASIO
