something that might..well..sensibilise you.

if any of your family members or friends were involved, i'm sorry for that, but however, i have loads of bad consciousness running around in my brain all the time, and i honestly don't need people reminding me of things like that which are crystal clear. you won't reach idiots driving around while drunk with that.

I agree with VC, people won't stop driving while drunk just because of that kind of pages *downloads bikini pic, shudders at cripple pics*

That's interesting. I have an assignment where I'm supposed to pretty much influence those 'idiots' perception on drunk driving. What do you guys think would work?

Hmmm I don't really feel like thinking positive right now but if I were that burnt girl I'd kill the guy that was driving the car :)

Making those ignition lock devices compulsory should do it. All you have to do is to put some pressure on the capital forces, kind of like the case with automotive safety back in the sixties...

i might be wrong, but the only times i've seen people refrain from doing something terribly stupid it was because (a) painful consequences where certain and immediate: you put your hands on a living flame, you start to burn; (b) a merely unpleasant consequence is likely to happen and has happened to them before.
therefore my take on this is: police ought to be there more, and take away the license of drunk drivers. when this starts happen to your friends and you actually see police cars stopping people on the road, then maybe you can be reasonably certain that this can happen to you too.

pictures of a disfigured girl, though certainly repulsive and shocking, are never going to be filed under the "likely to happen" tag: everybody should just see the possibilty as far too remote to be taken into consideration.

rahvin.

rahvin: i guess you are aware that, were things to be like that, we would have our licenses taken away ages ago, yes? :)

seriously, i agree: but i think that the limits shoulnd't be so strict. at the moment, in italy, if you have two beers and the police catches you driving your license can be taken away. but they don't really do that. this is ridiculous: i'd love stricter sanctions, but i'd also go for alertness controls instead of measures of alcohol in one's blood. some people are fiercely drunk with one beer, and i am positive i can drive after five without being dangerous for anyone.

the effect of disaster pictures is ambivalent. personally, beside being probably unable to eat for six months after seeing that one, those remind me i should be careful. especially now that i'm two-wheeled: any asshole who even touches me could cause a violent smash, and as soon as i think of myself with casts everywhere or with a broken skull i stop doing silly stuff like slaloming between cars or accelerating madly on a road i don't know after sundown.
