Good videos don't make music better. However, there have been occasions, when I have glossed over a song, which didn't really blow me away. Later, I saw the band perform it live or watched a live video, and the energy with which the band performed the song, gave me a new appreciation for the song. Beyond this, there's a condition known as WES, or Whitesnake Erection Syndrome. Having grown up in the 80s, and watched Tawny Kitane in varying states of undress, crawling around seductively in every Whitesnake video, I now automatically sport wood whenever I hear anything by Whitesnake. I'm actually considering starting a telethon.

I've obviously heard LoG many many times, + seen them live twice. And yes I looked at that video, which was my final deciding point.

Agreed with the sentiment, but while I've defended bands whose metalness has been questioned here in the past (names withheld to prevent tired debates from resurfacing), I see no point in denying that these guys are metalcore. It's a fact, split right down the middle between the metal and the core.

What's to face? I don't even know what metalcore is. Somebody once told me Dillinger Escape Plan and Ion Dissonance were metalcore, and I said "okay well I guess I like metalcore, but back in my day we called that shit grindcore."

I don't get why its so hard to figure out what Metalcore is. METAL...CORE...Metal...Core...Metal...Hardcore...OH MY GOSH! a mix between metal music and hardcore music! Its not some big connundrum, and no the bands arn't special and different and "hard to catagorize". People "so easily put stuff under metal-core" BECAUSE ITS FUCKING OBVIOUSE when you hear Metalcore. Its not some naive thing, its just FUCKING EASY to tell when a band is metalcore.

um, am i so wrong for not immediately dismissing (or outright bashing) a band out of hand just because some self-appointed arbiters of genre tastefulness decide somebody spilled a little hardcore in their metal? at least LoG aren't the usual whiny-ass emo fagcore, sheesh give them some credit.

Thats the thing, people think people just "immediatley dismiss" metalcore because of some pre-concieved notion that its "un-cool" to like Metalcore if your a metalhead and blahblahblah. And really its because Metalcore is almost always shity ass music. Thats why everyone says they hate metalcore, and "immediately dismiss" metalcore.


Maybe not all metalcore sucks to everyone, but I don't like it. But thats not my point. My point is that LoG is not thrash in my opinion, and I don't see how anyone can really think they are thrash metal?
