Well said. That's usually my response to genre arguements. I don't really care what genre people classify bands as, except when that classification causes them to write off a band prematurely. Does LoG have Hardcore influences in ther music? Yes. Is their sound predominantly Metal? To my ear it is. And to call them "typical Metalcore" is misleading. To me, Metalcore is:Iconoclastic Tendencies said:i personally dont' care what genre the music fits into. metalcore, polka, hairymanass-sounds.... doesn't matter, if it's good, it's good
-played by guitar players who don't know their way around a fretboard
-uses meaningless lyrics
-tends to sound so similar to all other bands in the genre, that they lack a unique sound
-has to have the word "dying" or "bleeding" in the band name
Lamb of God doesn't fit this mold.
As I've said before, if you've listened to LoG with an open mind and don't like them, so be it. If you've dismissed them out of hand, based on the belief that they are Metalcore, and therefore automatically suck, your loss.
As to J.'s comment, that some of us like Metalcore, I have no problem with that. KSE's "Alive or Just Breathing" CD was fucking phenomenal. Although, I think that's the only CD I own in that genre.
