i personally dont' care what genre the music fits into. metalcore, polka, hairymanass-sounds.... doesn't matter, if it's good, it's good
Well said. That's usually my response to genre arguements. I don't really care what genre people classify bands as, except when that classification causes them to write off a band prematurely. Does LoG have Hardcore influences in ther music? Yes. Is their sound predominantly Metal? To my ear it is. And to call them "typical Metalcore" is misleading. To me, Metalcore is:

-played by guitar players who don't know their way around a fretboard
-uses meaningless lyrics
-tends to sound so similar to all other bands in the genre, that they lack a unique sound
-has to have the word "dying" or "bleeding" in the band name

Lamb of God doesn't fit this mold.

As I've said before, if you've listened to LoG with an open mind and don't like them, so be it. If you've dismissed them out of hand, based on the belief that they are Metalcore, and therefore automatically suck, your loss.

As to J.'s comment, that some of us like Metalcore, I have no problem with that. KSE's "Alive or Just Breathing" CD was fucking phenomenal. Although, I think that's the only CD I own in that genre.

Thats the thing, people think people just "immediatley dismiss" metalcore because of some pre-concieved notion that its "un-cool" to like Metalcore if your a metalhead and blahblahblah. And really its because Metalcore is almost always shity ass music. Thats why everyone says they hate metalcore, and "immediately dismiss" metalcore.

Maybe not all metalcore sucks to everyone, but I don't like it. But thats not my point. My point is that LoG is not thrash in my opinion, and I don't see how anyone can really think they are thrash metal?
well i didn't say anything about them being thrash, but i think they utilize elements of thrash metal. to me they sound pretty far removed from the usual shitty formulaic metalcore; no hardcore-style breakdowns, no whiny singing, no emo lyrics, and on top of that they can really shred. this is why it's so irritating to me to constantly see them being lumped in with the usual avenged sevenfold/converge/agony scene garbage. i understand your dislike for them and that's cool, to each his own, but fuck man i wish more mainstream music was like LoG, i might have more shows to go to

my main dislike is when i saw them live it was boring-delux. couldn't even headbang. Its slow music disguised as fast music with double bass and stuff (not that that matters, not everyone likes fast music). Its just that i like headbangin' stuff, and live they really didn't get my weiner hard.

not for nothin' but then you need Viagra ... because if LOG is not old school style moron Beavis and Butthead headbanging music ... i don't know what is from todays scene.

Tully....please. stop. you're making me laugh, one moment you're using the word connundrum and then "obviouse"

I hate spelling =( I tried for a while to spell, haha. I'm falling back into my old ways again now, by the looks of things.

And Lurch, to me oldschool heabangin' music from todays scene is Toxic Holocaust, Zombie, Lethal (=D), Merciless Death, Rattlehead, Fastkill, and lots more. And hey, Overkill, Sodom, Overkill, Kreator and the likes are still thrashin' hard!

And to be clear im not saying "OMG LOG SUCKS ASS" (maybe I did say that, I don't remember) but I'm just saying that to me they are not Thrash metal, and I think of them as Metalcore. It doesn't even matter of course.

...an obviouse connundrum.
