Sonata Arctica

OG everyone already knows you hate power metal so stop trying to be fucking cool.

I own Ecliptica and put it on when I really want cheesy shit...and golly it works.

silence and ecliptica (i think thats what its called) are pretty good but the new stuff is severely lacking and now that they've lost their guitar player i have 0 interest in them.

I liked Reckoning Night, Silence, and Ecliptica. Winterheart's Guild was alright and I haven't heard Unia. Yeah I use to hate power metal too but got over the whole voice thing after awhile (with the help of Iced Earth and Blind Guardian). Same thing with blastbeat.

I used to listen to them a lot, before I got sick of them. Monotonous power metal gets boring after a while. Sonata definitely have a unique sound, but I think it gets old. Also, the comments on the singer's accent and lyrics are all quite true. Some of things he says are hilarious:

"She should not lock the open door (run away... run away... run away!)
Full moon is on the sky and HEEEEE's not a MAAAAAN anymore..."

I still love that song, it's as catchy as all hell, but gods the lyrics are so funny.

I do really dig some of their tunes though. "Black Sheep" and "Don't Say a Word" are both pretty cool. They're fun to put on once in a while.

so who wants to watch me masturbate on a keytar? nah, me neither.

Shut up.

Anyway, I love Sonata Arctica, they're one of my favorite bands, atm. So far, I only have Ecliptica and Silence.

Ecliptica is a classic, in my opinion. It kind of reminds me of Europe on speed. They have great keyboard melodies, lots of emotion, and awesome guitar solos, and it's quite catchy as well. It is kind of cheesy, but I can tolerate cheese. It's one of my favorite metal albums, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Silence was pretty good too, though most of the ballads kind of sucked, especially Tallulah, and Last Drop Falls. I really liked The End of This Chapter though. I'll be getting Winterheart's Guild and Reckoning Night soon as well.

FOAD

So far I've only listened to eclipta or what ever the fuck it's called. It was good.

I was a little bit disappointed with Ecliptica. I haven't really given it much of a chance, but I can't see it growing on me that much, and Unia isn't bad. The only other album of their's I have is Silence which, as I said before, I really, really like. The only tracks on that one that I might skip are Last Drop Falls and Tallulah. Other than that, the whole thing is great.

I'll check it out.
