Song meanings

It's the concept albums that own me. That new tool one has me completly lost.
How is 10,000 days a concept album? Lateralus would be much closer to a concept album, and that's pretty questionable.

The new album is much less lyrically focused. Maynard goes from talking about people experiencing schadenfreuden through the television, to talking about his mother, to talking about a drug trip, to talking about humanity''s knack for destroying things.

Regarding song "meanings", I've found that it is often impossible to determine the exact things the vocalist is expressing. So, I don't really concern myself with what exactly the lyrics mean to the person who wrote them. It's interesting learning the intent behind the words, but I would much rather apply the message to my own life and experiences and take what I can from it.

I always found Borknagar lyrics hard to understand.

borknagar's lyrics appear really fucking deep if you make up your own meaning for them. i asked Asgeir on their board what the lyrics meant. he was like, "ah, it's about time and space and some svpergrim Norgestuff and you wouldn't get it" which means "i just started writing words that sound really epic and when i had used 'eternity' too many times, i stopped."

Abigail rules at Engrish.

"We're the king of fuck
Sex Metal is my way
Listen bitch Metal sound
Bitch she wants to destroy
You are the porno queen
First suck my dick slut"

There's a few rival claimants to the throne though, like Sarcofago:

"I will lick you
of the feets 'till the head"

And my personal favourite:

"If you are a false don't entry
because you'll be burned and died"

Well, first off, the tracks run together transition-wise, which is a dead giveaway for concept albums. Plus, they go together subject-wise. Following, vicarious, jambi goes "The devil and his had me down/ In love with the dark side I've found" and "So if I could I'd wish it all away/ If I thought tomorrow, they'd take you away". This has to do with the songs before and after. Plus, The next four songs w/ lyrics are about the drug trip. THe last two songs are sober and retrospective. Plus, Tool themselves said that there is a puzzle, which has something to do w/ the artwork. It is definitely a concept album.
