Song of my own band (Hardcore)

In this case it´s Ibanez RG-2550 --> TSS --> Lextac --> Sneap Edge Impulse. I use mostly real amps but I had to try this one^^

the snare sounds really boxy, guitars have too much mids.
toms are also really boxy. the kick is ok, but could be louder.
vox are also ok imo
cheers!

Thanks for your opinion Mago!

I´ll try to cut the boxy frequencys out of toms and snare... Could you be more specific with the guitar mids? I actually like the guitars pretty much but I will definitely try your suggestions out! Too much low or too much high mids? Too honky or to boomy for your taste?

Greetings Chris

hey, i'd say youve cut too much bass out the guitars, and i think the high mids dont make the sound smooth.
but i dont know what kind of sound you aim for, I couldnt do something with that one, but if its your taste its ok.
and i think the snare is more hearable from the overheads than from the snare mix, can it be?
cheers!

Hey!

The Snare and Toms are a bit dominant in the OHs... You´re right. Maybe I should highpass them a bit more.

Greetings

I think Mago nailed it (boxy snare/toms coming mainly from overheads) for the drums, but for the guitars i wouldn't try to have them necessarily sound smoother, i like agressive high mids for guitars for hardcore... but Mago he's right you've cut too much bass/low mids from them though, and i'd use a tad more bass (the instrument) also.

OK thanks for your reply!
Good to know what I´ve done wrong. The Snare/Tom - OH problem should be easy to solve... I just have to set the HPF a bit higher i think.

The guitar problem on the other hand... There is a reason why I removed so much low mids/bass from the guitars. It´s muddy as hell! I could reamp it again, but I think the problem seems to be the guitar. I really recorded with the wrong guitar on this one. I have better guitar options now so my next recording will be better! I´ll soon post a song of a local trash metal band (those guys are A W E S O M E). Let´s see what you think of that mix.
