A week ago I have returned from Czech republic from one of the loudest bashes happening in the world today. That is – Sonisphere festival. As a big Metallica supporter I wanted to see them live once again after checking them out in Budapest in May + to see Mustaine, Araya, Ian and others. So, I packed my stuff and got ready for the Clash of Titans.

I’ll skip the trip details and will only say that it’s very easy to get there. Any Euro bus to Prague and then a train till Milovice

About the gigs:

Volbeat: I will start with my first big excitement. I really wanted to see what Volbeat are capable of as I had a chance to listen to them for 5-10 mins in Budapest as they warming up Metallica. I must say that this is great band that has it’s audience and most important of all: has it’s vibe and style. Michael Poulsen has a unique and developed voice that is capable of brining the message to each and every live-listener. I was pretty much skeptical at first when I saw reviews about their music: a mixture of metal, punk, rockabilly, hard rock etc…I was sure that I will see another experimental band with no future but instead – a real jumpy, catchy and breaking-the-neck heavy rock music with splintering vocals. The vibe was positive which gave a big contrast with almost all of the other bands on stage. I think I was stabbed in the heart when Michael started Johny Cash. High 5 – that was without a doubt one of the best shows for me.

Megadeth: My biggest interest was to see the “red” devil Mustaine on stage and finally understand after so many years of reading, why is Megadeth the number 2 band after Metallica. Unfortunately because of the bad organization I could not find a good spot to listen them so the wind messed up the sound a little bit but I was amazed by Dave. The guy has not got a great voice, looks strange with his guitar, does not usually show his face keeping it hidden under the drapery of red hair…but yet, his voice pierces, his riffs are simply genius and together with Friedman they showed smth that no other band in this world will ever have. Dave has the leader hidden deep in him and “just like a Pied Piper” he leads his rats through the streets I hope he has better motives though))

One of the best gigs! \m/

Rise Against: Sorry people, I was drawn away from Slayer that day because my girl wanted to see Rise Against as she is a big hardcore fan. I must say I was not feeling sorry when I saw them live…these guys transfered so much energy and power from the stage…being a big guy myself I could not comprehend who such tiny people can make the air so think that it slaps you in the face like a shovel and still keeps you up and moving…Generally not a big hardcore fan, I recommend this band to anyone who has a chance to see them.

…and finally…

Metallica: Guys, I don’t know what to say…I just could not listen to them this time. I did not expect this from myself, but they were too fast and I did not feel that they are enjoying it…I’ve read reviews about their shows these days and people are saying the Metallica has resurrected and is crushing skulls and meting faces all over the world but damn…In Budapest they were great…so I think it’s just my own bad perception of what happened but I did not expect Lars to be so fast and mess up almost every song. Sad But True sounded like a hard-rock fast song for me…anyways, though I was a little disappointed I still say that after a very strange period of their lives starting with renunciation from the roots in Load and Reload, pouring pure anger on shrinks in St. Anger and finally killing’em’all again with Death Magnetic Metallica is still one of the best bands in the world today…James and Hemmet were too good \m/ so in my opinion that smoothened the doubtful performance of Lars that day… Trujillo – fucking great metal gibbon of all times!!

I’m glad that I was a part of this craziness and saw these motherfuckers live…I felt that, damn, I would do anything to see them all back in 1989 or 1991 and feel smth that only 35-40 years old metalheads can tell…but these legends are still in arms.

Bless and for all!
