Sony being dumb again

If their plan really is to knock the used game market off the planet, then there is no way I will ever own another playstation.

Of course I still remember the root kit or file or whatever it was they stuck on their CDs. This company has been known to do some super stupid shit.

Honestly, because this is fucking over Gamestop (who I despise) and putting more money in the pockets of the developers who actually make the games (thus hopefully improving the quality of future titles, as well as making said developers more likely to take chances on more innovative, unusual titles), I don't really have a problem with it in principle - however, there's no denying new games are just way too fucking expensive, but then again, if this type of 2nd-hand blocking was implemented, maybe the price of new games would go down because the developers wouldn't have to make up for the lost revenue in used sales...

Hope springs eternal! :D That and the fact that they would hopefully recognize they'd need to do something to counteract the meltdown that would ensue should something like this come to pass

+1 I only bought 3 new games for the ps3. But I already played a lot of shit because after finish a game I trade all the shit I have.

If they do this. I wont give more money to this greedy bastards and I think this could be the end of Sony. The ps vita is already a big fail because of his high price. Of course people dont have money jumping out the pocket to buy all the shit new.

Doesn't this technology feel antiquated already? It seems like we're only a few years from full online delivery of games.
@marcus, I think new games cost too much but it's the price of having the new hot shit. You can buy great games for sub-$30 all day on amazon and some are only a few months old.

Imagine if something like this actually happened for the music business, making piracy pretty much obsolete. It'll probably never happen, but imagine... We'd all be able to make proper money again :)

How exactly would it make piracy obsolete? If we're talking CDs and putting a stop-gap measure into them I could see that being feasible but for digital downloads? Some people listen on numerous devices, car stereos(and friend's car stereos), etc.. Are we going to restrict playback to one device, use a passcode or what?

Fuck this world is getting too complicated for my old ass. Off to listen to some Pink Floyd on my record player.

A Sony playback device that will set us free from piracy

And yes, +1 to your last sentence.
