What's the Australian metal scene like these days? What's cool? What's the underground? Are there any upstarts in the atmospheric metal scene?

Well nobody else is gonna reply to this, but I travel to Melbourne fairly regularly and try to see bands whenever I go there. Not sure if I have much atmospheric to report, but this year I saw a heavy psych/doom show with Grim Rhythm, VVARP and NON playing. Last year post-rock/metal band Myriad Drone came and played in Auckland - I believe technically they're from NZ originally.
Cool- I'll check them out. I've always carried an irrational notion that the grandiose landscapes and unforgiving habitats should produce interesting metal.
