The band have been working on an album for quite a while now and i have been working on perfecting our production quality for what seems like a lifetime in order to achieve the sound the band wants etc.

This is a "Promo Audio Track Video" Posted on youtube giving a small demonstration of sound of the album:

After many months on end solid tweaking and experimenting without any sleep i think i have cracked what is now adopted as "subversi0n's Sound".
We are very low budget and don't really have much money to spare so we have to squeeze every drop of performance out of the gear we use.

In the case of this album, the guitars are almost entirely recorded through a pod x3 Pro going in to an Mbox 2 directly and utilising Pro Tools 8.
Drums were recorded at my university's Sound studio on a Pro Tools HD system and i had a lot of lovely Equipment to work with there, if a bit unreliable (it being an educational establishment etc).

The bass drum is triggered and we use a trigger sound that is specially for the album (we don't use triggers live) so as to give us the desired punchy kick sound we are aiming for.
For the snare we used an sm 57 on the top skin and a 58 for the snare underneath (my uni ran out of another 57 lol).
We were very lucky with the overheads as we had two C414 Mics and they just sound amazing no-matter what you use them on :)
Guitars have been tracked 6 times each and we utilise the "Dual Tone" feature on the pod x3 pro to a high degree...oh and we use two 7 strings tuned to drop G (drop C with extra low tuned to G) and a 5 String bass.

The album is still very much a work in progress but we would love to hear what people think of the production, critique, ideas, what you like or dislike about it etc.

We have created a compiled taster track for the album to give a little tiny taste of what it sounds like, as well as a full track "bypass".

To check it out head over to:

SubVerSi0N Myspace

Have a listen to the player on there, dw we replaced the myspace player (shite quality), with the not so shite quality reverbnation Flash player so it should sound ok.

While im here i might aswell link you to our facebook if you dig us:

Here is another full track off the album, quality is a bit hindered by soundclick but its listenable.

Subversi0n hasn't had many live gigs but here is a couple of videos of us taking part in our first ever gig fresh out of the practice room at Red Roar Festival on the "mane" stage. The sound quality is piss poor but what can ya expect from a phone (not bad video quality mind):

Thanks for taking the time to check it all out, any questions, criticisms, ideas, anything at all, please feel free to say :)

If you like it I'd appreciate it if you could write a review somewhere, spread the word somehow or something, anything to get the word out about it and the band.

If you really like it and want the full cd experience with the real cd, full booklet with lyrics, picture, notes and tons of other stuff to support us then you can order it from Stormspell Records for only $5.99

Khariot, are a four-piece Progressive Extreme Metal outfit from Perth, Western Australia. Formed in late 2008 by Shah Zaini (vocals, guitars), Gavin Foo (vocals, guitars; ex-Noctis) and Michael Rule (drums & percussion; ex-Alchemont) with Darren Joy (bass) completing the lineup in April 2009. All band members individually hold very diverse influences in music but share a common goal; to create unique, intelligent and disturbing music.

Khariot started performing a string of shows that began in the second half of 2009 and shared the stage with many fantastic local bands such as Nexus, Neverborn, Wrath of Fenrir, Mhorgl, Psychonaut, Sins of the Father, Advent Sorrow, Labyrinth, Bereavement, Memoria, Nails of Imposition and the list goes on. Khariot's The Hermit track was also featured on the Western Alliance: Operation Metal Storm WA metal compilation.

After months of moulding our sound, we have compiled a diverse amount of material to record our still untitled full-length. We will hit the studios with Southern Darkness Recordings which is run by none other than Khariot bandmember Gavin Foo, who's first official recording is the production of the Nails of Imposition demo. The pre-production phase of the full-length has nearly ended and we are looking forward to getting the music recorded.

The album will consist of 9 tracks of dissonant melodies, obscure twin harmonies and counterpoint, thrashing solos, crushing technical riffs, hypnotic basslines, dual diabolical screams and gutturals and frantically eccentric drumming.

Khariot's debut album is aimed to be released at the end of the year or the start of 2011 and will also hopefully have merchandise for sale with the album launch. The official website, http://www.khariot.com, will also be launched soon. There will be updates in this thread so keep an eye out!

We will still be accepting gig offers so please email us at khariotaus@gmail.com

Khariot are proud to be part of the growing metal scene of Western Australia and Australia and it looks like the future is going to be epic. Be sure to support local metal and check us out on stage soon at a venue near you.

:kickass: In the meantime, check out our myspace and facebook pages for band info, demo tracks and updates in the future. :kickass:

I posted our last EP here but for those of you that didn't get it before it was taken down here's our most recent 2 EP's which have been getting great feedback:
"Demented Perception" and "Derealization":

Derealization:
l_26d17d2fc35f47d4b49256340823fac4.jpg

Demented is more oldschool in music style and production, Derealization keeps the thrashy vibe going but adds in a bit of melody and the production is much solid and tighter; personally I think Derealization is better but it all depends on what kind of music you like (oldschool Slayer/Kreator or new Exodus/The Haunted)
