Spirit of the Soldier fucking owns.

Absolutely. Brilliant riffage, great drumming, and godly vocals.Where do you live in Indiana by the way ?

There's also something I really love about that little acoustic break in "SotS"...I believe that's an ebow you guys are using on that part, right? And then it kicks into that badass melodic solo, it is definitely one of the coolest tracks on that album.

Well, I think they definitely used an ebow on the intro of "You Don't Have To Be Afraid Anymore" and that part in SotS sounds much like it, so Ill just keep speculating until John comes in here and justifies our discussion.

Ahh ok, well that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation, Bjorn. You got in before John; I think he might get jealous, hehe.

Ebows are quite nifty little devices. I might need to grab one sometime. Opeth use them all over the place.

Yeah, I almost bought one, but I know I wouldn't find enough uses for it in my music for it to be worth 60-80 USD. Though you would definitely hear this at my band's next rehearsal: "Hey guys, wanna cover The Drapery Falls?!" (and I'd try to hide a big grin while pulling out my ebow)

Two overdubed harmonies are ebowed right in for the pre solo, then the main solo kicks in. Thanks to Josh from CA at the Holywood Guitar Center I got my Ebow for $45.00 Ebows are useful, they can emulate some feed back that you want to get.

Yes, atleast Im not the only freak that is too lazy to tune down!!!

I always play By Your Bedside riffs in E and it sounds fucking killer, I love it! Im sorry, Im just too lazy to tune/retune, I always play everything in E, and if a song is in some whack tuning, Ill just go ahead and figure it out in E anyway (if it's possible to be played).

Yeah, songs tend to sound fucked when you move them up 5 semitones. I can use my Epiphone which I have in B, but that fact that the strings on it are light gauge and it hasn't been adjusted for that tuning, makes it near impossible to play any of the lead parts. The floyd rose on my Jackson prevents any easy downtunings so gotta make do, I guess, haha.
