SSL Duende Native plugins are out

hmm, imo are the prices a little over the top.
250€ just for the EQ or bus comp, thats really not a bargain.

That's true. 500€ for the channel strip and bus comp, while the Waves SSL pack is about 390€ from Sweetwater. I really dig these plugins, the Waves ones are really good too, and a 110€ price difference isn't a small one.

Add in the lack of iLok support and wrapped RTAS plugins and I'm not all that stoked anymore.

+1 dude(Jarkko)

even if I had the money for the SSL stuff I would be in a huge double windmill, cause I own the SSL 4000 + the UAD 4K stuff.
But I'm curious anyway.

I'm interested in the MH CS for such a long time, would be cool if a owner of both could hand out a statement, sometime.

Those of you who are demoing them... could we get some shoot-outs vs the Waves SSL 4k pack?

It's a bit of a screw-around to get my DAW online, and I really don't want to waste the time unless the plug-ins are worth it.

Hang on, hang on....You can't activate the demo without being online?

Shirley not.

Edit: Not a problem if you have a Wibu key. Codemeter runtime needs to be installed on the net access computer for the key to been seen by the SSL license interface.

and again a kick in the balls for the thousands of PPC users out there.
why don't they get that a lot of pro studios are still using G5 PPC, some of them even G4?

Because it would take a lot more resources to officially support a platform that hasn't been manufactured in five years. It's true many studios still use PPC Macs (in fact the studio I usually track at has a G5), but I still can't find it very profitable business-wise to put resources regarding a new product towards a system that is going to be obsolete soon. I know they're still perfectly good workhorses, but that's just the way it is with computers and there's no escaping that.

right, but people are growing bigger and taller, soon there'll be almost no slim and small people anymore, so why don't they stop making clothes in medium and small.
so far there are still plenty of small people around...and will be for some time.

Even Andy is still using a G4 on his b-studio, MANY big name studios still use their G4...and if the G4 is still in use that means that the G5 will be in use for at least a few more years...and "a few years" in plugin development is like a lifetime.

I'd replace that analogy with this one: Now that people aren't getting lice on a regular basis thanks to modern hygiene, why don't they stop making white, curly wigs for wealthy men? Oh wait, they did...

Yeah, and don't get me wrong, I completely agree with you that it sucks for the end-user, and I'll probably be posting the same rant here when my iMac isn't supported by audio hardware and software vendors anymore. I just meant it's something that really can't be fought, as more and more companies are dropping support for the PPC architecture alltogether. But gladly there's no acute reason to upgrade to an Intel Mac as long as the old setup still works. It's just the new toys that won't work :)

Just A/B'd the Waves SSL CS against the SSL one on a snare and fuck me...same settings the SSL blows the Waves out of the water....can get MASSIVE punch with this!!

EDIT:

Also A/B'd the EQ section on the same snare....the Waves has alot more sizzy pokey top end and the SSL being really quite smooth and much more natural....thus being able to crank the SSL up much higher without getting too "pokey" and thin in the high mids.

Man these are shaping up to be invaluble plugins! :(

FUUUUCK Jamez haha!!!! damn i can't spend that money right now and the GAS its killing me :D

Massive difference isn't there! I know the feeling man....I don't think I can actually mix with Waves SSL plugins any longer knowing its falling short...:(

Some people might prefer the Waves version but for what I want I totally dig the Duende...

No monies :(:(:(
