Stanley Kubrick

I love Kubrick's films. He had the ability to work in such a broad range of genres and styles but never lost his signature touch.. truly one of the great auteurs.
Dr. Strangelove is interesting because it's his only real comedy, and is such an excellent critique of the U.S.'s "strike first, ask questions later" mentality. If you look at the film in terms of current political situations its funny to see how little things have changed.

although not the most original director, Kubrick was very stylish and knew how to set up scenes perfectly. his shots are perfect.

his true classics:

FULL METAL JACKET: nothing is better, or more hilarious than the first half of the movie!
DR STRANGELOVE: one of my favorite movies ever! perfect!
A CLOCKWORK ORANGE: also one of his best. great book became great movie. used to be my favorite movie.
2001: ditto
