Stereo Enhancement

Today I was mixing with my headphones ( Audio Technica ATH 50). I inserted a PSP Vintage Warmer in the guitar channel, pushed the gain up a bit & somehow the guitars got widened & it was noticeable distinctly. I compared it with the previous setting quite a lot of times...I dont know how it happened, but it happened:D

Does anyone have a clue?

There's a way to expand past the stereo field with delays, but it messes up your mono compatibility as well. That's why I like using m-s eq's and the m-s multiband compressor in ozone to master stuff with because you can nail down the bass to the center and then widen the high end stuff.
