if only i had time for such things.. .i barely have the time to post here... but i already win, because i've done something way cooler... i've played on a track with Steve, taking alternate solos,
Wasn't that on the Rush tribute? Red Barchetta, right?
BTW, I saw Steve play with Deep Purple back in the 90's on the "Pupendicular" tour. I've seen some fine guitar players, but he really blew my mind. He locked in with John Lord like they'd been playing together for 30 years. Un-freakin-real.
yeah, was the Working Man rush tribute CD.... but the track was La Villa Strangiato
steve plays the intro and the main solo.. i play the second/ending solo. guitarist from Shadow Gallery did the main rhythms i think. i did the keys as well.
the mixer, which was Terry Whats-his-face that mixed a lot of the early rush catalog, put some shite mod effect on my solo... pissed me off.
Edit: actually here's the full list of players:
Steve Morse (Classical Guitar Intro and Main Solo); Mike Portnoy (Drums); Billy Sheehan (Bass); Brendt Allman (Rhythm Guitar); James Murphy (Ending Guitar Solo); David Townson (Rhythm Guitar)
I saw Steve play with the Dregs opening up for Dream Theater on their Metropolis tour. I had never listened to him before much, but I was blown away by his guitar tone. Really great performance too.
Awesome playing too, the more I know about music in general, the more I appreciate this. So, yeah, music for musicians as someone said above. Nothing wrong with this.
