Steve Vai, Blackhawk, and Cryptopsy w/ Cattle Decapitation

A little off topic but these bands are coming to Nashville in the next couple weeks and wondered if you guys thought i should go. I'm definitely going to hear steve vai but don't know about the others. I think i saw Blackhawk mentioned in the "progressive" thread I've never even heard of the other two.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Cryptopsy is crazy tech-death from Canada. They do a good job of it.

Cattle Decapitation are vegetarians. That's all I know.

Cryptopsy = greatest death metal band ever. I would give anything to see them.

as for the other bands...cryptopsy is talented but not really my cup of tea these days. vai is talented as well, but he puts me to sleep more often than not...i like more feel.

cattle decapitation are horrid. theyre close to my area, and i am aquaintences (or used to be) with them and their friends...but wouldnt ever buy their material...or pay to see their shows.

Go see Cryptopsy, Lord Worm is with them.

I have Cattle Decapitations Humanure, and To Serve Man. I think they are both pretty good. I didnt expect much with a name like Cattle Decapitation, but they do have some good riffs.

Dude, I'm going to the San Diego stop of Cryptopsy and Cattle. But as an added bonus, The Autumn Offering is playing too! I love what I've heard from them so far.

just got back from the Cryptopsy show. thanks for the recommendations guys. They were awesome. I have some observations/criticisms but i'll save them for later. for now, i'll just say that the nashville date was only the second or third on the tour and they are making their way west, so catch them if you can. Not to be missed.
As for Cattle Decapitation, I have to agree with Deliverance on that one. I just didnt see any point to them being on stage. They seemed to be trying hard and taking them selves seriously - and they were nice guys and all - but the band as a whole was terrible.
The Autumn Offering seemed like a bunch of young guys just starting out. I found myself wishing they would hurry up and get off the stage. Not my style. Nice guys though - check out their website for a couple downloads. www.theautumnoffering.com

wow. i cant believe more people arent posting in this thread. a top notch death metal band is touring in the US right now and no one seems to care. i went to the show having never heard (or heard *of*) crytpopsy and thought they fucking ruled. in my opinion, theyre about as extreme as it gets. they are very humbling. im thinking of just throwing my guitar in the trash. seriously. after seeing that, whats the point?

well dorian...usually at any given time...a top notch band is performing somewhere in the world...so i dont think its a matter of that. probably no one really finds it relevant to post much about cryptopsy on this forum. *shrug*

or maybe not that many people in this forum are fans either...which could be.

dude! i said "in the US" not "the world". and i dont care about any other top-notch bands who arent death metal as this is Opeth's forum and they are a death metal band. Just as you posted in your prog thread, i was doing the same here - hoping for new stuff. all we did was post in each others threads. ha!

....it just saddens me that the fucking Korn thread has some 650,000 posts while others go unnoticed. oh well.
