Steve Vai, Blackhawk, and Cryptopsy w/ Cattle Decapitation

ALL of it? ALLL?!?! yes!!!
Yeah, they've been doing that for quite some time now that Lord Worm is back in the group. I guess it's to make up for all the shows they missed with him not being in the band.

They played all of None So Vile? Awesome! Does anyone who's seen them have a set list or anything? I'm curious to know what else they play, None So Vile is one of those albums I keep meaning to buy, but never get around too it. So lately I've been listening to a lot of None So Live, that's good tons of old songs on it, and I can't wait to see Lord Worm singing to Cold Hate Warm Blood. I'm going on Sunday.

Cattle Decapitation is funny. They're alright, nothing to great, fairly amusing live, but I think I'll be bored of them and ready for Cryptopsy long before they get off stage. I know I was bored and ready for Behemoth and Suffocation when I saw CD opening for them a few months back. That was a great show. Morbid Angel with DV was awesome too, as was Satyricon.

Saw Cryptopsy tonight. Technical death metal masters, much more "brutal" then Opeth, but on the same level of insane talent. Here's what I posted at the Cryptopsy forum.

"I saw Cryptopsy tonight in Dallas, and all I have to say is this:

Unbelievable!

One of the best show's I've been too, and I have to say I now consider Flo the best drummer in metal. That man is unbelievable. To say nothing of the godlike abilities of the rest of the band and the welcome return of Lord Worm's killer vocals. He really breathes new life into the Disalvo era stuff.

Set list:

Intro
Crown Of Horns
Slit Your Guts
Graves Of The Fathers
Dead and Dripping
Benedictine Convulsions
Phobophile
LichMistress
Orgiastic Disembowlment

Drum Solo

Open Face Surgery
Cold Hate Warm Blood
We Bleed

Encore:

Back To The Worms

As you can probably tell, it was an amazing show. They played all of None So Vile, in order, start to finish, which was awesome. All the songs had all the solos totally intact, no one missed a note, ever, and I think Flo was adding stuff here and there. During Orgiastic, Worm was whipping himself with his mic cord on the back, chest, and groin, lmao. Then during the encore he came out with a chalice, and was letting people drink from it. Hell yeah.

Flo's solo was even better then I expected, it put his "None So Live" solo to shame, and was perhaps the best drumming I've ever seen, and I've been to a lot of shows. Incredible stuff.

I saw them in a tiny little club, only held a max of 230 people, it was long and narrow with a tiny, short stage, less then hip-high. Worm was grabbing peoples heads and stuff.

After the show the guys came out and stood around the Merch table, which was really cool, I got to meet them and got them to sign my Canada Live 2004 CD. They're all really cool guys.

Thanks a lot guys for a great show, and the autographs.

Hail Cryptopsy.

Oh yeah. I'm pretty worn out right now so I might have mixed up the order on the last few songs or left something out, so if you got any questions, lemme know."

Hell yeah man...I just got back from a free instore Digorged(cali)/local death metal show....I'm real pumped for that Cryptopsy show, especially after seeing that setlist Starless Dragon posted. It's gonna be very fun! I've been in a more brutal mood lately anyway...with my Spawn of Possession, Immolation, and Odious Mortem!

@starless dragon: hell yeah man. cryptopsy fucking rules. if you read my first post i had to ask who they were. haha. im glad i did.....After Flo's solo, i had to pick my jaw off the floor - and im not easily impressed with solos. ill agree also that they were all really nice guys (canadian, eh) and while the opening acts were playing, Lord Worm and Jon were on the floor saying hi to fans (and getting drinks at the bar). ill say again: do not miss these guys. they are absurdly good.

ps: has anyone seen Dark Tranquillity yet?

Necrophagist are a little too wanky for my tastes, but I bet they'd be incredible live. As far as a band that rivals Cryptopsy in all fields - try Psycroptic.

Necrophagist versus Cryptopsy? I'd say Cryptopsy has better song, while Necrophagist has better guitar work, especially lead work, it's very "wanky" but very well played, very technical. Probably great live too especially for guitar affectionados. But Flo's got the superior drumming skills.

As for as Psycroptic, they're great, I love Scepter Of The Ancients. Definitely on the same level as Cryptopsy, a side by side comparison would be tough, but they'd definitely give Cryptopsy a run for their money. Be a great tour together. Dave Haley is an amazing drummer, but after seeing Flo live, I'd have to say I think Flo Mournier is even better. You don't really know how insane his drumming is without seeing it live.

That said, I've not seen Dave Haley so it might be a slightly biased opinion.

Dorian, yeah I saw your post lol. Glad to hear you enjoyed them, I'm not surprised Flo's solo blew you away, it blew me away and I thought I knew what to expect! He's definitely one of the best.

I've seen Dark Tranquility, a few years ago on the Art Of Noise tour with Nile and SYL and Napalm Death and The Berzerker.
