Steven Slate Drums...Anyone recommend?

I'd never heard of it before I came to this place. I checked out some of the sounds and was sold right away.

The single biggest help for my music ever!

It sounds sooo fucking good with little or no tweaking.

Everyone here goes on about it. Buy it, you wont regret it.

I use Steven slate for just about everything. Its VERY flexible, but not as polished software-wise EZD in my opinion. I and many members here like the samples and options.

Duh....I've heard of Steven Slate drums...and trigger, but I already have addictive drums, SD 2.0, BFD, ezdrummer, and session drummer 2.0 (with steven slate samples bundled in...part of Sonar).....haha, guess I should have mentioned that.

So is it worth it for me to get it?....you know compared to what I have?

Should I get the Trigger package instead....website lists as "bundled with Steven Slate Drum Samples"....because my acoustic drum mic's are pretty shitty..then can I use the trigger package to as a vst for soft drum kit?....or is trigger strickly for replacement.....maybe I could load the "bundled samples" into my Kontact 4 instead of getting the slate EX and metal pack?
Lots of questions sorry guys....bet I'd rather ask you guys than sift around on the website trying to find answers in the midst of the "advertising" typre descriptions...

I think most people here agree that the drum samples are great but the cymbals in SSD EX kinda suck. If you already have SD 2.0 and AD I would say it's not worth the money. You could get trigger, which includes the drum samples, and just use the SD 2.0 cymbals.

WOW thats a lot of money on software, let me guess you use free amp sims after blowing thousands of dollars on drums right ..... Oh and I bet you have the waves mercury bundle too right ... cause after all REAl guitar tone comes secondary to epic drums in metal.

::rolls eyes::

Haha...ya it is a lot of money, and that's just a fraction of the software, but I make a lot of money on my day job....and this shit keeps me sane, even as a hobby. What I've found that if anything gets in my way of progress, and I feel I need something be it hardware or software, I buy it....glad the wife doesn't shit on me too much about it....but hey, she just bought a $3000 purse, to add to her "collection"....so she can't bitch about it.

I've tried the free amp sims, and either don't like them (maybe I need more patience) or they're not stable on my system.....I use Revalver HP for guitar, I was going to get MKIII, but I found the tone I want with HP, and use GR4 for leads.

And I think all tone is important.....you know that!

SSD, AD, DKFH, Revalver and you cant get a sound you are happy with yet you make a statement like this ....

This brings the LULZ .....lol

EDIT:
Nothing like writing a 5 paragraph reply and the fucking browser crashing .... ughhh ...

So heres the short version ....

You named every hacked / torrented piece of software available on the market and you expect us to believe you bought them all.

You expect us to believe your wife spends $3000 on a purse and you dont own an amp / set of monitors / microphones or a decent interface?

Dude ... go away. We get 100 guys like you every day looking for the "magic settings" to get professional mixes. THERE ISNT ONE!

Spend the next 3 months with your mouth closed and your eyes open and read every sticky thread on this forum. If you cant get good results with the programs you have now buying another isnt going to fix it because YOU are the problem, not your plugins.

Sorry to be so harsh on you but here is no magic "preset" / "plugin" / "setting" / "amp" / "sim" to make your mixes sound professional. It takes YEARS of practice and know how in order to do this at a professional sounding level. 98% of us here are PRODUCERS not bedroom jockeys who play guitars and are looking for a way to record demos. If thats what you want then go to Sevenstring.org or Gearsluts.

I have to jump in to this thread for a brief second. I usually keep my mouth shut around here, but I wanted to say that I think a lot of people on this board need to relax. To insinuate that this dude has boatloads of pirated software based on what he's said so far is just retarded. Why is it so out of the realm that someone owns so much gear, and still has questions about what things to buy, recording techniques, etc? Give the dude a break man. I think this is one of the reasons why this board has gotten really shitty lately. Everyone is ALWAYS jumping down the throats of the noobs or the guys who have questions, and it seems like there are 5 or 6 guys on this board who monopolize every thread to the point where no one is learning anything anymore.

I myself own TONS of gear, TONS of software that is all legally purchased, and since I spend maybe 2 or 3 hours a week on this hobby (due to my day job, kids, wife, etc), my skills obviously aren't up the same level as some of the guys who do this shit day in and day out as a full time job. And to be honest, I'm totally cool with that - it's something that I do in my spare time to keep me sane. But for people here to assume that everyone on this board is a 14 year old kid working at a gas station who can't afford nice gear, or legal software is completely ignorant.

The dude asked a question, and no matter how ridiculous it might seem that someone on the Sneap forum isn’t familiar with SSD, I don't think there is any reason to call the guy a thief.

WTF....

And to the OP - I (just like you) own a boatload of drum samples and plugins (battery, S2, EZD, etc), and I would jump all over any deal for Slate's kit. They're amazing...just do it.

Hope this helps.

Bobby

NOW.....In case you haven't noticed, some of my hardware IS crappy.....but that is how we ALL build a collection and practice our techniques (as hobbyists)...and in case you didn't notice this whole thread IS wondering if I should bother buying Slate IF I already have plenty to work with....shit man it was only $30.

Now YOU can go fuck off....how the fuck do you know what I have....what kinda money I have....and YES it was an LV purse custom ordered from Holt Renfrew.....Frickn' blue logo on kinda creme background.

Thats cause all of these questions have been answered a billion and one times. NOBODY learns anything cause you are all too lazt to search for the answers you are looking for. A simple GOOGLE search turns up 10+ Pages of conversations just on THIS forum about Slate Drums.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...a=X&ei=nxT5TIuLFIqqsAOhkcS3Ag&ved=0CB0QrQIwAA

If you are seriously that lazy to not be able to do simple searches then you definitely do not have the patience to be a producer.
