lol this album is pissing on the face to all that admire steven wilson and feel obliged to pay the ridiculous amount of money that this package is asking.
I am more than happy to pay for music (as are many people) but this is certainly not encouraging to do that. I downloaded this because there is no way id hand over that sort of money for something that is possibly boring. which it is. im convinced that you're paying for some shitty, over the top packaging.
You could buy PT's entire back catalogue for this price (or most bands back catalogue) and at least then it may be money well spent.

Hmm, after a few listens I think some people are overly harsh. Sure enough it isn't Wilson's best, but overall I enjoyed it and it has some great tracks.

seriously, music is a matter of taste, so stop fucking arguing what is right and wrong...
I think that the atmosphere of the album is like nothing Steven has ever done before,well...possibly a little bit with Noman, the emotions he manages to accomplish actually matter to me, and i actually think that this just might be one of his best, so stop trying to convince people that you are right and others are wrong, there simply is no right or wrong in music, so there is absolutely nothing to argue about, just to share a personal view of what makes music for you.
Have you ever tried to put a chilling feeling from music into words? It can even be pure nostalgy, can you write the feeling of nostalgy into words? Do you have a feelign you're searching for in music, if so, can you explain it? Can you actually in words tell people why you like music? Why even argue?

Significant Other, Veneno Para Las Hadas and Abandoner are all great songs and Insurgentes is turning into one of my favorite Wilson tracks. Personally, I'm more than happy with what I got for the price, but that's just my opinion.

Not really, since it's going to be sold at a regular retail price in February. The high price of the special editions is because of the elaborate packaging, the 40 page glossy book and the high cost of postage due to the book's weight. You're acting as though SW came out and said "i'm charging more for this album cos it's awesome lulz!" No.

And so what if he does? What's wrong with wanting a decent package to go along with an album, he's not forcing everyone who wants to own the album to fork out for it, and the fact that it sold out pretty quickly proves that there was a demand for it, so why not?

okay, so it's actually the little things around music what makes music for you ultimately.
Well there's an interview of steven where he expresses his love for beautiful packaging, and that he is a collector nerd for who things like this matter, that music is also a physical work of art he likes to hold in his hands and admire. Once again, who are you to judge what he should have done?
