Steven Wilson Solo album!!!

You're simply too unintelligent for your brain to compute the complexity that is philno's posts...

We are the poison of the earth
The whore Mary was sodomized
Her bastard son will rot forever
We laugh at the fairy tale that is God

Inverted crosses are struck into their heart
Our Lord Satan delivers us from good
He slashes his veins to give us his essence
To my kind it's power, to the weak it's venom
We drink the devil's blood, to win the anti-life war

:Puke:

Those lyrics were eventually revisited and this is the result:

Come to Him in belief, accept truth as lies and lies as truth
Does the first candle burn or is it ashen cold? Grace or Damnation?
Come to Him in belief, and see not the secret of Heaven
But of earth; a prodigy of great magnitude

Drink the Devil's Blood
Holy essence that consumes even the stars
Drink the Devil's Blood
Drink and become the poison of earth and man
Drink the Devil's Blood and become
One of His million hands; One of His million eyes
One of His million brains shining with utmost devotion
A molecule of The One with many faces
While of thy soul remains but ashes cold...

This funeral bell and it's sacred sound
Haunting always and no more peace
Nor redemption, but moribund ecstasy...
And the glory to serve as one among many

Drink the Devil’s Blood: Necessitas medii
Drink the Devil’s Blood: Necessitas praecepti
Holy essence that consumes even the stars
Drink the Devil’s Blood
Drink and become the poison of earth and man
Drink the Devil’s Blood and become
One of His million hands; One of His million eyes
One of His million brains shining with utmost devotion
A molecule of The One with many faces
While of thy soul remains but ashes cold...

I dislike early DSO but I love everything CSRC- now. Don't use early DSO to generalize all of DSO because they're not even the same band...

ah, now that they improved it i actually understand the genious of this masterpiece. :notworthy

I'm still surprised philno hasn't been banned yet, after irritating and upsetting so many people over the months and years...
Anyways, the SW solo-album is one of the most intense records Wilson has put his hands on imo

i'm sorry, but what exactly do cheesy metal lyrics have to do with steven wilson sucking hard?

It illustrates your staggering hypocrisy and pretentiousness in constantly, to the point of OCD, berating Steven Wilson for cheesy lyrics and concepts, as if you're somehow above listening to anything that could even remotely be construed as reeking of Velveeta, while simultaneously getting all gay about DSO, whose cheesebag, contrived Satanist imagery FAR eclipses any and all forays made into... "fromagery" by Steven Wilson.

You're not particularly bright, are you, phildo? :erk:

Haha, who knows, maybe it would even rival the retard thread over at teh Bloodbath forum?

While philno may not be the best at discussion, I don't really mind him at all. He's actually kinda cool. :)

He is kinda fun to kick around, I'll give him that. It's good, cheap entertainment! :heh:

I thought that philno liked some of Wilson's work.... So then why does he suck so hard?

i really enjoy old porcupine tree, but basically everything he's done after in absentia is the same old. in fact, deadwing was semi-tolerable. fear of a blank planet was straight up awful (except anesthetize).

roadking: if you'd like to talk dso, bring it to the dso thread. as much as you'd like to think it, citing some lyrics from dso doesn't make a point. we both like opeth, and we both know they have some awfully pretentious lyrics. let's not go there, we both know lyrics are the aspect of music the least of interest in this discussion.

still the only critique against fear of a blank planet seems to be about the lyrics :D stop contradicting yourself.

really? no one mentionned anything about the repetitive nature of the album? the fact that it's all been done before? the boring, unnecessary ambient parts? it's ridiculous marketing scheme?

the lyrics are not the focus here buddy, and im certainly not contradicting myself. prove me wrong.

unnecessary ambient parts? hahaha!!
Yeah you choose whats necessary and whats not on a porcupine tree album.
Cmon its part of the thing! its porcupine tree.

lol jesus christ people, i'm listing my reasons for not liking this album. if you like it, good for you, i've got nothing against you. you liking those ambient parts is just as acceptable as my disliking them. once again i'm not stating my opinion as fact, i'm telling you my own reasons for disliking this album.

moreso, the real point of my last post is that the lyrics are not my main gripe with this album...

I don't only mean what you have said, you're mostly pretty direct when it comes to that: "this sucks!" or something like that :D
But as a whole i've only heard people complaining about the lyrics, it's subject and the lyrical details like the iPod shit.
I can't understand how you can so deeply hate the album if not lyrically, but still like In Absentia, they're not THAT far from one and other.

well nice that we have an agreement finally on the open mind subject.

i think IA is much heavier and less ambient than insurgentes, more of a straight to the point prog (heavy) rock album. i can't really see to many similarities between the two. as far as i know the iPod/Xbox shit is more in reference to FoaBP and steven wilson's personality, not to insurgentes.

in that case i totally agree with you. i see FoaBP as a derivative porcupine tree album, they haven't really added anything to their sound since in absentia, and that's a good portion of the reason i dislike post-IA porcupine tree.
