Stomp had its moments but I'm going with Vol. 8. The first time I heard Stomp I thought it was going to be awesome but then it kind of died as I listened further and further. Vol.8 is just solid. Opinions?

MetalT

Volume 8
Stomp is a solid thrash metal disk, but Volume 8 is a bit more of a stretch for the band. Stuff like Inside Out, 604, Toast to the Extras, Cupajoe. I thought it was cool that they stepped out of thier box a bit.
Still, WCFYA is thier Best. Fuck I love that disk.

I prefer Stomp. I actually think it's stronger than Vol.8 and WCFYA, which is opinion is just ok.

With Stomp they tried to pull a Pantera by putting the strongest songs at the beginning and letting the momentum carry the disc. It wasn't a complete success but it's not a failure either. It has some of Bush's best vocals with the bands and some of their more aggressive riffing. Volume 8 has so much variety. It really showcased their depth as a band. And until the disc that followed it, it was their best disc musicianshipwise. Of further note, the biggest surprise I got when listening to Stomp for the first time was the big change in Bush's voice since White Noise.

My least favourite anthrax albums, id say stomp has it over volume 8. Never really got into anything of vol. 8 other than inside out and stealing from a theif.

stomp 442 by a country mile, volume 8 has alot of good songs but it just didnt sound like an anthrax record, the only song that did justice for that album is inside out.

I liked V8 but Stomp 442 was better in my opinion. Just for the fact that it wasn't as diverse as V8. And it featured some of the best solo's in any Anthrax record ever. Paul Crook and Dimebag had a true shred fest on that album. In a zone has probably the wickedest solo I've ever heard. Both of those guitarists had a huge influence from Eddie Van Halen and it showed.

On the other hand, the band seemed jaded with the music biz around the time V8 was made, released and toured with. Their John Bush sophomore wasn't supposed to have been so neglected. John Bush really pushes himself the studio.

Stomp, easily. I accept that Vol. 8 was more diverse, but for me it was TOO diverse.

I like Anthrax as a Thrash band. At the time, they clearly didn't want to be one. Oddly WCFYA is a great album - though it too is pretty diverse, it has a more consistant hard edge to it.

I still don't like Safe Home though.

Volume 8. One of my favorite albums of all time, and probably the best album that nobody has heard

Amen to that! Although 'Tester' is one of Thrax' finest moments, the entirety of Vol.8 is AWESOME!! especially that really quiet scream under the chorus of 'Crush' Goddamn that makes my hair stand on end! And the expanded edition has the best B-side ever:Giving the horns!:headbang: Its the small things in life that make it all worthwhile!
