Hi,

It's my first post on this forum but I read carefully most of threads.

I recently bought a Palmer PGA 04 to record my Boogie Mark V.
I help a friend to record an EP for his band and I record a raw DI track and a amp track (throught the Palmer), and tone is weird, a lot of high, strange low behaviour.
I want to confirm that the problem don't come from the amp, or reamp box, so i make a dual recording:
-> Reamp box -> amp -> palmer PGA -> Sound card (Motu Ultralite)

-> Reamp box -> amp -> palmer PGA (direct out, no treatment on the signal) -> Blackstar 2*12 -> Condenser mic -> Motu

I didn't tweak position of microphone, but you will hear that difference between cab and palmer is enormous.

I upload 2 tracks (throught Palmer and Cab), exactly the same DI track

Does anybody use Palmer and do you have this kind of behaviour???

Thanks

Ben

sounds pretty typical for a analog speaker-simulator to me... what are your settings on the PGA04?
if you don`t like the sound of the palmer, just record the uncolored output and use some impulses.

cheers, markus

Thanks Makus.

I only use filtered output, 7 or 8 for low, 4/5 on high, brown mode.

Some buddy had recorded using Palmer with different amps (Diezel, Laboga, VHT and more), I don't have that feeling of "strange" sound.

OK, mix was done by Hertz Studio (where Behemoth record, mix and master their records).

Yeah, sounds like you could probably get it a little bit closer by adjusting the filters, I use the modern rather than Brown setting. If you're planning to double-track, try that first because you may find that it brings it to life a bit more

Thank Lozek

I will try the modern settings.
It's for a pop/rock project and songs need 1 guitar left and 1 right, no double tracking.

I will post new clips when I will reamp them
