the experts actually reckon vinyl is better than CD for quality or some crap i can't remember what it is that makes it better but i remember hearing it a few years back

If a record is in excellent condition and you have a good needle, then it is I think. The disadvatage is that records don't last as long. CD's don't lose quality at all (apart from maybe getting scratches), records do if they are played heaps and the tracks wear.
I tend to find that newer stuff sounds better on CD, but anything released before the late '80s sounds better on vinyl. Especially pre-1985 albums because they were produced with vinyl in mind as the medium they'd be heard on. Sometimes the remasters sound awesome though, but the original CD transfers of pre-1985 albums are usually crap compared to the vinyl.

I think I heard somewhere that when an album is played no vinyl, it sends out a larger range of frequencies that cannot actually be heard by the human ear. For some reason, cds cannot reach the same frequencies. Apparently thats why some people say vinyl is better.
And of course, with vinyl, you can check out all those naughty backwards messages that heavy metal bands put on their albums to make you kill people or turn you into satanists.
