Suggest a different guitar cab mic

I need a cab mic suggestion, guys. Been using SM57's on Mesa cabs, but the tone is just too grainy/gritty for the song. What do you suggest for something with a smoother high mid and top end? Low cost ribbon mic maybe? Any dynamic mic suggestions with a smoother character? Preferably $100-$150 range.

(Already have an i5, but not sure I care for it on guitar cabs.)

You can use your i5 for guitars for sure, I've heard it done before with great results. I would try a PR20/PR30, those seem to sound really good.

Beyerdynamic m201 for sure.
You are having the exact problem I was having with a 57.
I switched to an e906 which I much preferred then got the m201.
My guitar sound has dramatically improved and I need hardly any eq to get a great sound in the mix.

M160 with a 57 can be quite nice.

Ribbon mic of some sort, an Audix i5 would be even granier and harsher.
