Well I suck I at using the UM search engine and couldnt find my original thread anyway.... I have supposed to have a meeting with the owner of the club on thursday and I want to have approxmiately 3 cdrs full of great stuff. Not such ProgPower stuff, but all kinds of great metal. So I am taking suggestions that would be great to add to the list to help introduce people to new bands and some older that people probably dont know. I think you know what I mean.

Edit: Well I decided to start looking through my cd books and tried to pick one song by almost every band in my cd book. This by no means is the length of the set or the order or anthign official just something to help get my mind going. As you can tell I alphabetize my cds though some are missing since they are in my car, so before you go how are you missing this its because its in my car.

Looks a bit light on the Goth side. I'd throw in some Soul Relic, Lacrimas Profundere, or Entwine.

Also, you may want to go with some of the modern Finnish rock such as Private Line or Lovex.

I always try to "nod" to the classic, but showcase the current and that's about as "current" as you can get considering the heavy play of HIM style music.

well I dont believe HIM counts as music, imo. I wont play anything I dont like or the owner wont allow (Cannibal Corpse etc.). Though I do appreciate the insight, thank you.

I dont think I would consider one of those bands to be goth either.

What was this mix going to be used for, again? That's a fuckton of music. A multiple buttload of metal, to be more precise.

Weird, he'll allow Dimmu, but not Cannibal Corpse? Who is this guy, Al Gore? :heh:

I think you need to add Brainstorm, Vision Divine, Savatage, Sinner, Epica...etc. Also, not to be picky.... but I believe the song by Black Sabbath is 'Fairies wear boots'.....tell me again which night you plan on having metal night and the name of the bar. Thanks

He doesnt like death vocals in the style of death metal. He doesnt mind other styles, but he is an ex-football player for the KC Chiefs.

All the music will be used for as a playlist for Revolver's Monday Metal Militia.

- Brainstorm you are right about, I dont know where my brainstorm albums are. - My Epica cds I havent gotten to
- Sinner I misplaced somewhere
- I did have "Handful of Rain", but I like I said this is just a rough overview of the kind of stuff I am going to be playing. I going to use this present list and make like 3 - 5 playlists. I think each playlist will be 3 hours.
- Vision Divine I havent gotten to either, and there still is therion, Vanden Plas, and Sonata Arctica just mention a few others.

Also wont be until April, I dont think. The bar is called Revolver and it is off 80th and Metcalf.

Thanks for the suggestions thus far.

Great recommendations with Private line and lovex, woosta...got any other hidden away gems you'd care to recommend?? :headbang:

I'll have to check out the iPOD tomorrow because I feel like I'm forgetting a really good band along the lines of those two. Maybe I'm thinking of Soul Relic who are one of my personal favorites right now. I guess with the Finnish thing, the trick is "how much HIM do you like/can you stand in your music". Personally, I've always liked HIM so when I hear stuff like Soul Relic and they sound similar and I hear a Finnish vocal band like Negative (who's a blatant HIM ripoff, albeit a good one) it doesn't affect me.

I know lots of folks are loving Brother Firetribe, but I just find them to be ok. There's a newer band called Embraze "The Last Embrace" that is a little different but ok. Like I said in an earlier post, though, Entwine and Lacrimas Profundere (only the newer stuff) are quite solid.

Let me know what you're into right now and I'll see if I can come up with any reasonable suggestions! :kickass:

Ok, then, throw in some Asrai. They call themselves goth so who are we to argue? :)

Additionally, I assume that you want to DJ or do house music for a club. If that's the case I think the "I won't play it if I don't like it" can turn out to be a tad limiting. If I did that for ProgPower, you'd hear no Prog, but I'm aware that there may be an audience who would groove to that. You know? I'm not being an asshole here, I'm just saying...
