SUMMON Confirmed For MINNEAPOLIS MAYHEM 2 Festival

Michigan-based black metallers SUMMON have been confirmed for this year's Minneapolis Mayhem 2 festival, set to take place on May 6-7 at Star Central in Columbia Heights, Minnesota Also scheduled to appear at the festival are German thrash pioneers SODOM, long-running San Francisco Bay Area metallers SADUS, and Las Vegas, Nevada thrashers AVENGER OF BLOOD.

Sin Origin, for one. There's plently of decent American BM acts, Summon just don't happen to be one of them.

Now now fellas, I've been acquianted with Averse Sefira for a very long time (seeing them for the 3rd time in March). When I say that USBM is drowned by mediocrity, I'm stating it from a percentile point of view. There are many brilliant brilliant USBM bands (Weakling, Yamatu, Krieg, there's a few more) but those constitute only a very small niche in the mass grave that is the USBM scene.

Grand Belial's Key are the best USBM band. Summon is at a close second, then Absu. I'm not really into the California bm bands.

I abhor Grand Belial's Key, but that's mainly because they sound alot like black heavy metal to my ears, as well as a few ideological differences I have with them. Absu is good, but I've never been particularly fond of thrash crossovers. Tara is the closest I've come to enjoying something of that sort.

They're probably second. "Joined in Darkness" takes Averse Sefira's work apart though.

I really prefer Averse Sefira to anything Demoncy has done, though it's a tough decision, as "Joined in Darkness" is brilliant in it's own right.
