I'd really like to try to get something similar to this. I love the pop of it and it doesn't have a lot of the snare wire sound to it.

Thoughts?

Try to raise the room sound of your snare and compress it.
I hear a lot of room in this snare .

Use a transient designer or a compressor with a high ratio and a relatively fast attack(30-90ms).

man i dig these guys. Not bad ...I better check the rest of their stuff out. Snare is made for this style no doubt

Album is very solid. Really love the recording of it.

I don't own a transient designer and am not sure if I can make myself spend the money on one. But, i'll try to compressor.

If we are talking about conditions..

anyone have idea how to get this bass sound? I know its not something unique but I have no luck getting this bass tone..
its sounds like fresh strings + some bass tube screamer?

i love this band! i've sometimes achieved a similar sound with slate snare 3P and a fast gate, heavy compression and then an eq boost at around 205hz

+1

but compress first, then add the transient designer subtly because if it's overdone it can sound disastrous.

Why'd you wanna do that? As far as I know transient designers and compressors are basically the same thing, depending on how the source is being compressed (settings, to be precise). Am I right? Please enlighten me.
