Survey on electronic/sequenced drums

Hello, I'm about to add in some sequenced drums for a client and I thought I'd conduct a survey on what most people here use.

Basically, I'm looking for those electronic drum parts as heard in bands like The Devil Wears Prada or We Came As Romans. I'm not looking for acoustic drum sounds - those are already recorded by the drummer and he played well on that.

There's this song I'm working on, and he wants that glitchy drum thing we've all heard and loathed.

I have an 808 so I'm thinking of just using that, but I'd like to hear about other electronic drumkits too, to expand my sound palette. Thanks for the suggestions...

PS This is my first time doing this kinda stuff, never done this before... so please excuse me for any wrong terms that I used in this post...

Sometimes I just program a simple beat with an electronic kick/snare/hat and I just throw this plugin: http://illformed.org/plugins/glitch/ on the Hat.

i would say don't focus too much on the actual "drum tones" rather than the unique element you can create behind the drums.

everything in this composition is not drum oriented (other than the kick/snare "skeleton groove").


these kind of parts can really make or break your production.
