Sushi

Yes, it's pretty good actually, and does not taste like raw fish because it's more rice than anything, just try some "tender" sushi (like California Roll) and see if you like it.

If you want good tasting raw fish try the Swedish delicacy Gravlax. Or alternatively if you want bad tasting raw fish try the Swedish delicacy Surströmming. You need to taste it at least once in your life. There's nothing quite like it.

You won't feel the taste of raw fish once you dip it in wasabi and soy sauce. Throw in some gari (pickled ginger) and your tastebuds will pretty much experience all tastes but raw fish.
And as has been pointed out already, there's always the non-fish alternatives, often making use of eggs instead.

Just back from work... well, haven't tried Japanese food yet, but I wouldn't be too scared of it, you should be more scared of McDonalds food, you never know what's in THERE!

But, right now, I would even try the filter of some coffee machine... hunger..... *grrmmmmllll*

Actually it is quite tasty...:)

I love to experiment with food and taste!

-phyros ( could you have sushi with mustard? )

I love sushi. But I agree, try various rolls because, well, they have less fish than the other things. (I know that doesn't mean a thing to you, but I forget the japanese names for these). Rolls usually come in sets of 6, while the others come in 2 per order.

And dipping them into a wasabi - soy sauce mixture greatly diminishes the fish taste, especially if you have a lot of wasabi (it's quite strong, I warn ya!).

Also, some fish tastes more like fish than others... I think I had mackrel on Sunday, and it had a very STRONG fish flavor. Most don't. Tuna and salmon are good starters.

But the best idea is to go to a sushi place with someone who enjoys it. You order a cooked meal and "steal" sushi off their plate. I recommend you try a couple of theirs before you "damage" your palate with the cooked food. I don't know if it matters, but it can't hurt.

you can do all that or catch your own raw fish and bite it out to see what it tastes like
OR you can continue avoiding it
