A rumor has been spreading around that Rob Halford will be re-joining Judas Priest and that current Priest lead vocalist Ripper Owens will then replace Russell Allen as the new vocalist in Symphony X.

Symphony X, and the band's record company, InsideOut Music America, dismiss this rumor.

"There is absolutely no truth to this rumor! It absolutely amazes me how this stuff gets started and is then spread around. Everything is fine with the band," said Symphony X guitarist Michael Romeo.

"Nothing could be further from the truth," said Jim Pitulski, president of InsideOut Music America. "Symphony X and the release of their new CD are absolute priorities for the label. We are planning a blowout marketing campaign for the new CD and are already in serious discussions about a North American tour to support the release. The band is healthy, happy, and preparing itself for the road ahead and we're all very excited about the future."

Finally, Allen himself had this to say: "Great, I can use a vacation! Seriously though, things couldn't be better. We're all looking forward to the new release and we're ready go."

The new Symphony X CD will be called 'The Odyssey.' It contains nine brand new songs including the epic 18-minute title track, which features full-blown symphonic orchestrations by Romeo.

"The new CD will be much more focused and will be quite a bit heavier than a lot of our past work," Romeo said.

'The Odyssey' is tentatively scheduled for U.S. release in October 2002.
