Symphony X in Atlanta-August 7th. Roll Call!

Great show, I managed to get one of SymX's setlists. I enjoyed every band, even Axial Discorrelation. Echoes of Eternity were good but I don't really like their singer too much. She doesn't really fit their music. Sanctity was a lot of fun and their singer was pretty much the spitting image of James Hetfield 20 years ago. Symphony X was absolutely incredible. Great setlist and a lot of energy onstage.

it was my first time seeing Halycon Way (well plugged in at least) and they far excited my expectations. I look forward to seeing them more in the future.
the local death metal sucked balls. I LOVE death metal but that crap just was awful. My wife and I went down to Purgatory during the 3rd song because I had enough.
Echoes of Eternity-The music was very good, the vocals did not match the music. If it had been just instrumental it would have been better. The signer did not have a strong voice at all.
Sanctity-WOW!! They are from my hometown of Asheville NC. It was great talking to the band before and after their set. Greta bunch of guys. Love their modern thrash sound. Lead singer did look like James Hetfield in the early days and sounds like Chuck Billy from Testament in his vocal style.
Symphony X-First time seeing the band. They were FANTASTIC!!! Russell Allen is a great front man with plenty of energy!! Can;t wait to see them at Progpower hopefully over the next 2 years.

We had a great time last night, as well. It was cool to see a lot of PPUSA faces. I was surprised with the number of PP shirts in the crowd. I even overheard someone behind me comment that "everyone has one of those ProgPower shirts."

Halcyon Way kicked ass. Excellent show, as expected. Sorry, Ernie, we tried to get the porpoise up to your kit, but Sean wanted it all for himself. :D

Axial Discorrelation definitely played to the wrong crowd. Their style is certainly not my thing, but I couldn't help but be impressed by the singer. I would have never guess that kid could belt our growls like that.

Echoes of Eternity and Sanc-titty (sounds like something Doug/ChickenKiller would say) were both good. Sanctity's singer definitely had the classic James Hetfield vibe going.

Symphony X did not disappoint. Awesome set. Loved hearing the new tunes live. Russ did an excellent job with the crowd when his mic died, too. Did anyone else find it funny when Russ commented that last night's crowd was much better than the crowd from ProgPower... considering most of the crowd seemed to be PP fans? :)

i promise - the porpoise (with his new art work) will have a lovely home - i will keep him safe:Saint: but now you can not have him back. so there ;)

and i will agree with Mike - the emo sk8r boy growling for Axial D - that was ... a bit strange to say the least. who woulda thunk it?

peace -

hahahaha.... We rule, etc.

Concur. Nathan/Biggs told me their singer was 18, so....'no drinking wristband for you, kid!' :) I was impressed by their musicianship at such a relatively young age. Very Opethian vibe, minus the smooth vox, plus that bit of ska in interludes. (!)

I couldn't tell if the mic died or if he just did that as part of his 'get the crowd to yell' schtick. :)

Yeah.....the PP crowd was a lot larger, but I do think they were happy with the turnout on a Tuesday...and wanted to make sure the Masquerade knew it. (Remember, the Masquerade added two local bands because they thought the turnout would be small.)

hey everyone - thanks very much for coming out early to check us out too. That show was a total blast(furnace) and it was cool to see so many familiar faces!!!! Be sure to come out to Sidelines on the 24th as well!

That was definitely unexpected!

I assumed it was a legit problem considering the hiccups with the intro music and the fact that there is always something quirky going on with the Masq. sound system. :) Of course, it being an act would explain why it took so long for the roadie to come running out to fix it. :)

I was just meaning that the crowd was probably made up of a lot of the same fans from the PP show. :)

I think Sean enjoyed wearing the porpoise and jumping around with it WAY more than I ever could!

Ahhh, it's amazing how much fun we can have from a .99¢ porpoise from Walmart! :p
I'm sure he's happy in his new home!

Anyone else think the bands were way too fucking loud? Like, way more than usual at the Masquerade? usually I'm fine without earplugs when I'm there, but christ, the bands were loud, particularly Sanctity and SX.

all i could think was the comment he made at the BBQ - "like a fat kid with a hula hoop"

hey - just cuz he came from the wrong side of satan doesn't make him any less important to the happiness of the world ;)
i'll give him your love ;)

Thanks Su and everyone for coming out to the show. I had a blast of course. It was great to see all the PP Faces. I will learn your "forum names" and your "real names" and match with faces better over time, I promise.

Su, I hope the porpoise has a great home. Post some photos of it if you want, so we can all see it in it's new habitat.
Man I had forgotten about it until it flew on the stage. So I had to mess with some since you brought it all that way! Thanks!

I rescued the "porpoise" (im still not convinced of its porpoiseness as I've never seen a porpoise look all mutated like that) from the degenerate dragonforce crowd and ran into Rev. Su and asked her to take care of it, returning it to the Halcyon guys if possible. =p

I still believe its an alien.

dude, it's so totally a porpoise ;)
ok...we can refer to him as...the strange alien-like aquatic creature who likes metal? :)

and Sean, fear not - i shall take photos of the Little Dude for you guys - gotta let you know what trouble he gets into ;)

Can I ask the Halycon Way guys (since this is my first time seeing them "plugged") what was up with the dancer in the first and last songs? Just curious...

Sure bro, her name is Kadria and she's in a band called Inviolate, she's the singer. We found out she was a bellydancer a while back and decided that it would be cool to have her come out and dance, because our intro sounds kinda middle eastern. The last song....totally spontaneous. I didn't even see her up there at first. But all good.....she's much easier on the eyes than any of us dudes! =)

I don't know Bodan, you're pretty easy on the eyes to, of course i didn't have my contacts in. It was great to meet alot of folks at the show and I was proud of my boyz HW for a great set. Symphony X blew me away as I know they did everyone there. One thing that was cool to see was the hardcore/death metal band being the one out of place for a change, usually it is us out of place with a bunch of hardcore/death bands.

 you do have a point there with the last sentence. I enjoyed you guys at Glenn's house and even more Tuesday night! I will be attending more shows in the future where you guys are playing.
