T1 mutha fuckahs

In terms of the amount of drop-outs you get, perhaps, but speed-wise no, unless electrons here are slower than the rest of the world (which may well be possible, since everything else is).

Go to your ISP's website, check out the speed of the plan you're on. See if it's consistent with what you metered. If not, ring your ISP, ask them what's going on.

Good GOD!

What the heel is that shit? The site says that it's well below my ISP's average. Like a tenth of it.
What can I check or do to improve the connection? This is suppose to be DSL....

:waah:

Congrats James!

Point Cook is terrible for that shit.
Hell, even in my own suburb, some people can't get ADSL2, just because they live in a certain street.
I live on Merton Street just over in Altona Meadows, the main street where Central Square is, so I'm lucky in that regard, but it's still pretty goddamn slow by the standards of the rest of the civilized world:(

I'm on about 12mb/s.. but on a US/international server (ie 99.999% of sites I visit) its down to about 1mb/s.

So not only does Shadow_Walker have a massive epeen right now.. his internet speed is actually effective past this little experiment. I would hate to see what you Melbournites (is that the word? Do you have a word for it?) would get on US servers (you can select diff servers on that site, btw).

So we're 5 minutes away and in the same crap filled boat.
I am one of those lucky ones who isn't able to get ADSL 2+ in my area, and it's cheaper than what I'm on now :(

I'm hoping that will change when I move next year, though being closer to Hoppers may not assist that.

Congrats, must feel like a hell of an improvement! I'd love to have a consistent line. I've got a 24/1 DSL deal, which in practice tops out around 16/1, gets frequent drop-outs, customer service is absolute shit (I once had to convince the tech support guy that the problem was on their side, not mine, and only after 20 minutes of arguing he agreed to check it and boom, he noticed the whole part of the city was down) and the speed waves up and down constantly.

dude, you guys are so lucky. I got 0.66mpbs here. My connection speed is rated at 1mpbs ( adsl) but i live somewhere in brazil things dont work too well. my father got a 3G connection and its even worse. sometimes i cannot even watch youtube videos smoothly

Didn't notice Shadow_Walker's post above? It's hilarious seeing one of the poorer European countries' cheap internet plan wipe the floor with premiums in the rest of the world

Nah, mine's the standard plan: 5 ip addresses, 50 Mbits dowload, 33 Mbits upload (7Mbits international). The cheap plan is around 12 euro/month and has only 1 ip, 30Mbits dowload 20Mbits upload (5 Mbits international)

What's even better is their service and support is excellent (24/7, via phone, mail and ICQ). I've been with them for almost 3 years and during that time I've been without internet 2 or 3 times for half a day.

Fuck, I thought I was doing well with this. ....And compared to a lot of local DSL subscribers, I am!

The nice thing though, if I call tech support, a person actually picks up the phone & speaks English as a first language. Amazing.

Enjoy your T1, James! ...damn, that must cost a bloody fortune.
