TAB Thread.

Warheart, assuming you've got the tab 1 from mysongbook, watch track 2 called alexi laiho. Bar 63-69 are wrong. Those high chords alexi plays there, they are wrong in the tab. When you put on the song and pan the sound to the right you can hear that guitar solo. It sounds more like the chords are playing a melody then just beeing chords. The tab isnt totally wrong but just a bit too simple. I just hate figuring out these parts

I'm not sure what tab it is, it's just in a folder of GP files I have.

The only part I was saying that was correct was the 1 bar lick, which goes:

I slowed the song down myself and listened for every note and wrote it down, that's what I got which is also the same as the tab. I'm not too keen on transcribing chord stuff either, but maybe I'll have a look.

Warheart, got a question...I was wondering if you can write a tab for a Lamb of God song in guitar pro. I read the tabs and cant get the songs to sound right when I play it and can't get it in the right time. There are a lot of text tabs, but I can't get it to sound right still, so I was thinking maybe in guitar pro i can listen and look to be able to see how it's played. Also they play in odd times, so...I'm not sure if there's a time change/shift.

someone explain to me what this means 'flanger' seen it a couple of times but not sure of what it means....

Rock Hyrda, I love Lamb of God, I'll have a look.

Alex, a flanger is an effect. You can buy Flanger pedals or find it in multi effects processors. If all my gear wasn't upstairs I'd record something with a flanger on it.

Thanks, yeah...my post sounds slightly generic to LoG songs, but I specifically wanted Break You, since I'm just not sure how they pull of that opening hammer on-pull off stuff. But I was wondering if it's possible to get the whole song. Though, I think that the first bar is wrong, they have a tendency to play chords up the neck on the D and A strings, instead of trying to pull off those chords on the A,D & G strings closer to the nut as I see in a lot of LoG tabs.

I find many tabs are wrong, in terms of phrasing and position. Most people tab how they hear, and play it. Not necesarily how its played, position wise, by the artist who wrote it. Thats why I do everything by ear. Its much easier this way, as I find a comfortable way to play it for me.

Yeah, I understand that, but playing like it's tabbed seems more uncomfortable than playing it with the bar chords on the low strings. I saw a log song that sounded right, but shifts all over the neck instead of moving down a string, it was barely playable like that.

Ok, here's the first part of the song.

If I were you, I'd keep those chords where they are since it's a pretty quick riff, you'd have trouble jumping to the 8th and 9th frets and back.

For the first bar, I'd play like this, in terms of picking:

D,U,D,p,D,p,D,U. D,p,D,p,D,U,D,p. D,U,D,p,D,p,D,U. D,D,D,D.

As you can see, I separated each beat into it's own section so it's clearer to you. D is downstroke, U is upstroke and p is pulloff. As notated in the tab, try and get a tight palm muted sound for the 2 P.M notes and an "open" kind of sound for the 1p0 bits, that's how they get their tone differences in the riff.

Thats kind of what I was getting it. Tabs usually aren't done right. Hence why I stay away form them mostly.

some riffs sounds wierd and at 04:00 on my version he plays that on guitar..not keyboard

The electrical flanger effect is passing the current though a coil, throwing the phase off 90 degrees, sonically in turn creating an effect that seems to vary the pitch, without really doing so, I guess is how I would explain it. But a lot of the pedals nowadays can do it digitally by emulating, but the best way to understand what it sounds like is to listen to something wiht it. The intro tothe following song, has a noticible flanger effect.
