the new Savatage album is due 2005 for the 25th Savatage anniversary, Jon told me that himself recently, and it's NOT the solo projects (Oliva & Caffery) that cause the delay, but Paul O'Neill's decision!!

so stop saying Savatage are dead, they are definitely NOT, no matter how many people whine.......

I am sure the new album will be totally different from any of them. I am holding my breath and waiting for it. Jon surely has lots of different musical ideas and we will see a masterpiece! Keep on waiting.
And Savatage is not dead!!!
I wish Paul spared his time on Savatage instead of TSO. It is hard to wait 4 years for a new Sava album :)

Don't get me wrong, I love Savatage..they're easily one of my favorite bands. But as far as I'm concerned, they've done NOTHING since The Wake of Magellan...and that was seven years ago. Yeah, they toured the US and Damond Jiniya is a good vocalist..but they haven't recorded a thing with the guy. Poets and Madmen, on the whole, sucked..IMO.

Hence the RIP. I would love to hear their new disk..perhaps they can resurrect themselves.

You know, it wouldn't bother me too much if they went ahead without Paul. I know he's a big part of the Savatage family now, but if TSO is that much more important to him, maybe he should stick with it. Savatage had several outstanding albums before HotMK (Fight for the Rock notwithstanding), and Jon and Chris are more than capable songwriters. I know he's the drive behind the symphonic flair they've become known for lately, but i still think they could be great without his help.

They really need to bring their new singer to PP and perform some songs with him. Not to knock Zak, but we saw him perform last year w/ C2C, and some of us at other shows (memorial concert, etc..), and he's not in the band anymore.

I'm all for hearing him sing again live, don't get me wrong, but I'm more interested in hearing the new guy with the way everyone raves about his voice. Being that it's basically 'Savatage' on the bill, why not bring him and cut loose with him for a while.

That way we get a dose of the old, the older, the new and some Oliva project stuff. Big-cool show all around.
