TARJA-My Winter Storm

You really cannot count Christmas albums because many do those, and it is usually the same fare. "Noche Escandinavia" was really a set of concerts in Latin America featuring Tarja and others. It was not "Tarja Turunen's Noche Escandinavia". Therefore, MWS is Tarja's FIRST solo effort for a mass audience.

Thanks, y'all, and NO-I've never been backstage at the Masquerade. Nor do I now wish to after Pellaz's assessment of the current digs thereabouts.

In fairness, the headliner DOES get a private bathroom and a shower, something which most clubs lack....but I've never heard anything good said about either. :p

I've only used the backstage, err, facilities once. It's possible that everyone from, e.g., James Labrie to Maynard Keenan to Dani Filth to Rogue from the Cruxshadows has used that storied toilet (the Masquerade has hosted an astonishing array of headliners over the years), but nevertheless....I took some elaborate safety precautions.

I don't know. Lots of solo artists don't start with a Christmas CD though. Really, it was her first project that came out with the label "Tarja". Also - her website lists it under her albums for "Solo Career".

In my mind, MWS is #2!

And to answer 7th question, it's very good IMO. Some mix of some songs we know (I love her Ave Maria), with some Finnish Christmas songs. Great stuff!

I picked up Tarja's My Winter Storm disc up over the weekend and I have to say I'm pleased with it. No, it's not metal, but I really didn't expect it to be. I'm just glad that it isn't the pop synth shit that's released by female solo artist over here in the states! With that said, it's a very moody, dark, and atmospheric disc, which I'm diggin'. Very cool indeed....

Thanks for giving this CD a chance, man!:kickass: I love it!:headbang:

Tarja has like 4 solo cds, you know that right?

Tarja only has Two(2) full solo CDs, and Three(3) singles, and One(1) EP, where did you get 4 from, just curious.

By the way, i gave this disk a spin over the weekend, It is not like Nightwish, and that is an understatement. But it is okay, not my cup of tea. But it should make her fans happy.

I agree, it's not like Nightwish, but I don't think I would've been as receptive to it if she was trying to clone her Nightwish days. With that said, it consist of dark, moody ballads, some rockers, and a few metal moments sprinkled in here and there. Overall, I think it has a very cool vibe, which she's definitely put her on twist on. I believe the girl actually has her own sound, which is something you can't say for every artist. It's not a wimpy sound either.
